It really depends on how you measure it. Consumables are usually very slim profit margins per unit, but they sell fast and often because everybody wants them.

Who needs a house out in Hackensack? Is that all you get for your money?
My wife wants to try the free trial, on the same PC I use to play my full version, but the Free Trial client is asking me to uninstall the full version of the game. Is there a way she can create a trial account without doing this? Conversely, if this does go through, will I still be able to log in to my normal, Heavensward account?

If anyone's had experience running a second free trial account, I'd appreciate the help.

E: Another Question - what about just setting up a subscription? The game's already installed on the machine. Do we really need two copies of ARR in order to have two separate accounts or can she just start paying for it, nevermind the free trial?

Sell poo poo to people scrabbling their way up, endgame food might be tanked but there's still quite profitable recipes out there.

Did you try just logging her trial account into the regular client? IDK if that works or not. You can totally play with multiple accounts on the same install though

We tried that, but it says she isn't registered, and it appears you need to go through the trial account install to do that, and it's suggesting I uninstall FFXIV. Now, maybe that's because I don't recall doing anything different after my free trial awhile back. I just eventually paid for the full version and went on with it.

If I'm understanding correctly, as well, if she wants her own full account, she'll need to pay the 20 bucks for ARR again for the key, even if we don't install the second version, correct?

I don't get why the Free Trial won't just run? Or is "SquareEnix" the answer to that question? :v:

vOv posted:

Ninja's base class is rogue, which requires you to get some other class to 10 first. Paladin's base class is gladiator. They start in different cities, but you unlock cross-city travel at level 15 (IIRC). So what you could do is start as a gladiator, level up to 15, then go to Limsa Lominsa and unlock Ninja, then mess around doing your hunting log and FATEs until you're caught up and you can keep doing story stuff.

(Keep in mind that you'll probably want to pick one and stick with it for progression purposes; Ninja will have worse queue times since it's a DPS but it'd be more annoying to keep Paladin leveled up just so you can queue with it.)

Adding to this, the theoretical "best start" would be to pick Pugilist, get it to 15 so you can unlock Gladiator, Rogue, Lancer and Conjurer, then stick to Rogue through the main story quests (which give you a bunch of free experience doing solo stuff, thus avoiding DPS' notoriously long queues). Once you hit 30 Rogue, you'll be able to nab Ninja; from then on, you can focus on taking Ninja through the story while leveling up the others through side content. If you want to keep Ninja and Gladiator/Paladin approximately even in order to really avoid those long queues... well, I hope you enjoy repeating side content for levels. You'll be using Leves between levels 5-30, and probably FATE grinding 30 and up, to make up the difference between the two. MSQ is really tightly designed to take a single job from 1-50 (ignoring the dead zone of 46-49) so it'll take a bit of effort to squeeze enough levels for 2 classes out of that. But the end result is that you'll have 2 roles covered, which is always a plus.

Another option that occurs to me, and I would want someone on here to confirm since I'm not completely sure how true this is, but the recent Palace of the Dead dungeon gives actual experience every 10 floors; I've been told that repeatedly running those first 10 floors is a fairly expedient (if monotonous) means of gaining a few extra levels.

Floors 1-10 took me from rogue 1-rogue 4 or so; after floor 10 it starts to take too long to be worth the time. It is great to get fast dps queues, though.

So this is probably a dumb question, but why am I getting like 46% EXP now? I just did a quest where I'm fighting level 27 enemies as a 26 rogue, and I got less than half exp.

You're still getting full exp. Any percentages listed beside the experience is how much bonus you're getting. Is Rogue your highest class? You only get the 100% armory bonus for classes lower than your highest, so that 46% is probably just from other exp bonus sources, like some gear or exp buffs

The story gives you a HUGE amount of exp, exp from mobs in the world is generally negligible. (Killing things in dungeons gives a fairly significant amount, though!)

They mustve nerfed the armory bonus for the duration of the yo kai event because i have only been getting a 50% bonus on my Monk while grinding fates in OLN last night.

So is there any way to get into idyllshire without having to grind one of these godawful crafting classes to 50? Because that's kind of miserable.

EDIT: also is there any better way to level up these stupid classes than doing leves? Because getting a leve, crafting an item then walking back and forth for five minutes to get like 1/10th of my bar in exp is probably the least fun I've had playing this game yet.

Why...would you need to get a crafting job to go to Idyllshire. Idyllshire is part of the Heavensward MSQ and the post game hub as Mor Dhona was for ARR.
