He did, in point of fact. He wasn't the OP of the toxx thread, though.

And I might as well post this, since I'm going down memory lane and all.

just a thought. I appreciate people wanting to raise the stakes + fund the lowtax college fund though.

Sorry, I wasn't clear- I was thinking that each participant would have to specify an EV margin and that EV margin couldn't be picked by anyone else. Sort of a Price is Right situation.

Source, for anyone curious:
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/upshot/presidential-polls-forecast.html

I remember the Romney one from 2012, and comparing the two really showed how hosed Trump is:
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/11/02/us/politics/paths-to-the-white-house.html

Romney had one path if Obama won Florida. Trump doesn't have that, it's just a dead end.

I once made a hilarious joke about Arkane being a ghost that inhabits a netherworld that touches our world only when Mitt Romney gets a good poll but I was probated for it because Joementum had it out for me as a mod for some reason.

She'll almost certainly appoint someone more liberal than Garland, who is a center-center-left choice. Bill appointed Breyer and Ginsburg in a more Republican era, for example.

Hillary is going to gently caress the Republicans in every way she can, which will be kind of limited given how Congress is going to be. So Supreme Court appointments it is! And she will use them with extreme vindictiveness and cunning. At least that's my hope!

Where is this evidence that she has a seething hatred for republicans? She got along great with all the other Washington insiders on both sides of the aisle when she was a senator, voted for Bush's Iraq war, is pro Wall Street, and used to be a republican. She was even a Goldwater girl back in the day.

Because Republicans dragged her family through literal hell for basically her entire political career.

The other part is that while she was busy trying to conduct diplomatic work on behalf of Obama the Republicans were busy interfering by pulling poo poo like getting Netanyahu to come talk poo poo about Obama in the House or promising that as soon as they took the White House they'd nuke Iran.

It's not like she's ever been blisteringly left-wing, but I don't think she's going to bother trying to work with the Rs at this point. I do think there's some stuff like infrastructure that someone of her overall leanings could have made some bipartian headway with, given a reasonable congress, but there isn't going to be a reasonable congress.

Hillary Clinton is a very left wing person by American standards who took from her struggles in Arkansas and Washington that the best way to get things done was through incrementalism. Remember that Hillary and Bill came into office and tried to get gays the ability to openly serve in the military and pass universal health care. The resulting backlash got them as far as Don't Ask Don't Tell and stuck them with DOMA, while comprehensive health care reform was shelved for another 16 years. It's also what lead to the Clintons going along with Welfare Reform. Meanwhile she found that she could get bits and pieces of her original health care plan through congress in a piecemeal fashion. She found that this method of getting drips and drabs of her true agenda passed worked much better than pushing it all at once. Meanwhile she stayed on the left edge of the party as the party itself moves leftward.

You can absolutely disagree with the Clintons' actions and strategy, but there is very, very little to suggest they aren't themselves actually personally on the deep blue end of the national spectrum. So Hillary is going to get her agenda pushed as far as she thinks she can, even if it means working with a Republican here or there. Because she realizes that they're not a monolithic block of assholes and individually tend to have at least one issue where they've evolved past the political acumen of the Middle Ages. Those who can not be made useful idiots shall get the fire. Fire and Blood.
