The style is from that period, check the kid's face and the nurse's face/hair/uniform. Never seen a uniform like that in a modern hospital. I'm pretty sure it's meant to be happening in the 1930s or at least give the vibes (earlier strips had book and film references). Not an excuse for the art of course.
