I could be misreading it, but he did seem to have a facial expression as he said the 2nd Amendment part that said he was joking/bullshitting. That doesn't make it right of course, but it takes away a bit from the harshness of the text to me.

the best defense for donald trump is that he was completely unaware of any connection between the second amendment and guns when he made that statement. to be honest, i find it somewhat believable that he was just doing his rambling thing and completely inadvertently implied that someone should kill hillary clinton.
