My neighbor guy has a sick set up dude, I know they're better quality then. Way more of a market for that kind of stuff then I think, instead of headphones or whatever. Anyhow he has these german speakers, and they're in a beatuiful wood case, that he paid $3500 for in 1970s bucks and almost got divorced over. They're incredible. I would love some sweet stuff like that but I'm just not at the point where I want to spend the money and effort getting into all of that either. Unfortunately probably I do need a hobby.

jesus yea thats a step above. i dont have great speakers, theyre probably my limitation. i just have these polk bookshelf numbers that are adequate but are lacking in bass. anyway, marantz are also great receivers but theyre n the somewhat pricier side. i focus on receivers in these posts because thats where ive had the most trouble, i guess its varible between money wasting buffoons really

I really had to have one receiver so I had to have one with HDMI and optical inputs and stuff so that really limited. Anyhow speaking of like crazy tech relic audiophile poo poo, reading audio equipment reviews is the worst because some weirdo loving audiophile comes in talking about his set up like wtf. Give me a second I have to find what I'm talking about. Never could see those. There were huge framed posters of ugly magic eye things at Walmart back in the day, when there was one Walmart in a 30 mile radius. For magic eyes, I look at the pattern and cross my eyes, then slowly start to uncross (or relax) them until the columns of the pattern overlap. That's usually when it snaps into view for me. It took me years to figure it out. Same works for stereoscopic images. Cross your eyes, and slowly uncross them until two images overlap and you get a 3D one in the center. Hope that makes sense.

What's nice bout learning how to see magic eye and stereoscopic images like this is that you can use it to do "spot the difference" games or to quickly find differences in 2 documents. Put them side-by-side and do the eye thing and any differences between them will be semi-transparent or flicker.

Magic Eye pictures were the best, as a kid they just seemed like pure magic. Plus once I had got the knack of doing it instantly I would always get a kick out of looking for the patterns in random things like chainlink fences or wallpaper. edit: My favourite phone was the Motorola A1000.  Got it in early 2005. 3G, video calling capability, expandable memory up to 1gb and had a fairly thriving development scene. I even obtained a version of Tom Tom (gps navigation software) for it, which worked perfectly with 3d rendering of the view and voice navigation, used it navigate halfway around Australia. Was my primary phone for 4 years until the battery started giving out. The craziest phone I've ever owned was this bastard:  The picture pretty much says it all. That screen res, 162 X 132 pixels. I wish I could find a picture of it because it seems like a ridiculously good idea and I wish all my stupid remotes today snapped into their respective units so I didn't have to have a pile of them lined up on the coffee table of each room with an A/V setup.

I forgot to add these photos last time I posted in this thread. This was after we were moving sites and switching from CRT's to LCD's (2010). It was 2 of us moving those from different spots into that one room, approx 4 monitors at a time on a wheelie trolley...and then the same again down a flight of steps and into a giant bin.  And this was another item I found during the same move, it's a real shame we couldn't find the ISA cards that went with them.

I could pirate a game, but I would rather buy it on Steam than have to mess with cracks or not being able to play online. edit: Wanted to add, piracy will probably never go away. There are some people who will always do it for free no matter how what the convenience level is. Some people do it for the fun. I have a HUGE MP3 collection that started in 1997 and has been added to using newsgroups, Napster, Kazza, D++, eMule, FTP, torrents, etc. Now I hardly listen to them because it's easier to just pay $10 a month for Google Music or Spotify. No more loading up my phone and trying to figure out what music I may be in the mood for. What really did it for me is the fact that I can play a certain song or full album of my choosing. LastFM and Pandora never let you do that, at least in the past. I know this does not benefit the artist because they get paid next to nothing for streaming but I'm also not pirating anymore. While we are kinda on subject, why do radio stations still pretend to take requests? Do you really think we believe that someone in TYOOL 2016 would make an actual phone call and ask them to play the same AC/DC song that's on a 48 hour rotation?
