The Dumb Moves in Marketing thread started chatting about the notorious random crap in a box scam that ripped off a bunch of gullible goons a couple of years ago. Then someone posted Bobcat in a Box, which apparently buys random $1 crap off eBay and posts it to you everyday. Now people are getting badly printed jpgs of trains in the post: Iron Crowned posted:I got my first mysterious bobcat in a box item! The Blue Pyramid posted:.... holy poo poo I got this a few days ago. Like, exact same postcard as my first package republicant posted:I just checked the mail and found the same diagram of a steam locomotive that the other goon got, so it looks like keywords don't matter and they're just sending everyone the same junk. I'm thinking about asking for a refund, possibly with the vague threat of filing a charge back, and seeing how that goes. well fine lets cancel this lovely train jpg mailing service republicant posted:You can't cancel the automatic monthly billing without emailing the guy who runs the site, and it has tried to bill my card four times over the last four days. If I hadn't signed up with a prepaid card that just declines each transaction then I would be really irate. I didn't want to email to cancel because then it becomes even more unlikely that I'll get anything besides the postcard (I at least want my money's worth of random junk, dammit). Conclusion: Hillary Clintons Thong posted:the thread started talking about how much of a scam it was then decided they'd all go in on this particular one, its been amazing. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3686051&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=208

I've got a story I think fits this thread. It was late 2007. I was in high school, and I really, really wanted a Nintendo Wii. I asked my mother for one, but she said that I'd "have to buy it myself". As someone who was, at the time, not old enough to legally get a job, that was a bit of a predicament. Well, that November, I snooped around the house for an hour or two while I was home alone and, down in the basement in my dad's old workshop, high up on a shelf, inside a plastic bag I found: A wiimote and nunchuck. Well, that done confirmed it for me. I knew in my heart of hearts that I was gonna be getting a Wii. I was super excited. Golly gee whiz I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I put everything back exactly the way I found it, and stop snooping. Well, Christmas rolls around, and I've opened all the presents but one. And yes! The last one is the size and shape of a box for the Nintendo Wii. Oh, I'm close to losing my poo poo at this point. My mother says something like "Hey, remember when I said I wasn't going to buy you a Nintendo Wii? Open that box for me." Oh, I tore into that box, to find... A mostly empty box, with a wiimote and a nunchuck at the bottom. "Hey mom, where's... where's the actual Wii?" "I told you, I wasn't going to buy one for you."

Tbh I think she felt really bad about leaving me hanging like that. No hard feelings either way

I know that basically everyone brings this up but why is it always Republicans that get in trouble for this poo poo? I'm sure there are gaps I'm missing and people probably don't remember when Dems do it since they're not raging hypocrites but the last high profile Democrat I can think of in a major sex scandal was Bill.

Here's your list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_political_sex_scandals_in_the_United_States The last 20 years have had an awful lot of Republicans, but there have been more Republicans in power during that time so that might skew the numbers. There are fewer Republican women in office and ladies tend to send fewer dick picks so that could also impact the raw numbers. It definitely doesn't look good for the party of Lincoln though. EDIT: that list is just national sex scandals. My favorite one was where two Michigan Tea Party state reps hooked up. Krispy Wafer has a new favorite as of 17:54 on Aug 12, 2016 |

It was amazing. If I recall, the thinking was people would realize the male prostitute thing was fake, which would lend credibility when he'd say the real affair was fake as well. It would also boost his number in sympathy votes or something. A truly genius plan, flawed only in the fact it was the stupidest plan ever.
