Is that a custom job? If so, how long did it take to find a professional lapidary willing to work with fossils, and a jeweler who could accommodate such a unique request? I'm not even going to ask what it cost by the end of it.

It took forever to find someone who could work with ammonite and was cool with taking on a similar project back when I got married.

He actually picked out the ring himself. His cousin has a similar ring (though much less cool - no dino bones) which he thought was awesome and it was just a matter of searching online before he found someone who could make something like it. Apparently he's been looking at it for a while. The night he proposed he showed it to me and I purchased it right away because it takes a while to make, plus if the guy ran out of meteor or bones in the meantime we'd be SOL. You could pay more to have it rushed but since it's the wedding band there's really no hurry.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone :kimchi:

Regular ol' Absente works perfectly well, and can be had in smaller bottles. I recommend finding a small spray bottle of the size that would be used for perfume samples and using that to rinse glasses with absinthe for Sazeracs. Also a delightful thing to do with a Negroni if you're up for experimenting.

I meant to mention it earlier but when you do get rum you should definitely get both light and dark. For dark I absolutely second whoever else recommended Flor de Caña a moment ago; their 12 year is phenomenal, especially for the price. Absolutely delicious in an Old Fashioned -- sub the orange peel with a grapefruit peel and you have one of my all-time favorite drinks.

As far as light rum goes, I am admittedly much less knowledgeable. A bottle of Cruzan can be had for very little, and works just fine in Daiquiris and Planter's Punches (the latter is a great excuse to get into making homemade grenadine.)

And visit the Cocktails Thread over in Something Offal, there are a lot of really knowledgeable people who could probably answer any further questions of yours far more authoritatively than I could.

drat, I never thought to use a spray bottle for rinses, but it makes sense. Thanks for the tip!

I don't know why I didn't look for a cocktail thread, but I'll be browsing that for a while now that I know it's there.

It's an Xduoo 3 mp3 player because I'm a special snowflake who doesn't want an iPod. It can store up to 256gb of music (across two 128gb micro SD cards) and plays flac files which is the format I use for most of my music. Can't wait to be able to carry around the bulk of my music collection and listen to it whenever I want.

I'd argue that the iPod was pretty good on both fronts, but perhaps there's no use arguing over that. If you want FLAC files and expandable storage, I'm sure you're not getting one anyway.

I was just looking at a TomTom running watch with built-in music storage the other day. Perhaps that would be a better solution than a dedicated MP3 player, if carrying too much stuff is your issue? You'd also get some useful stats in the bargain.

Get the LG V20 phone, that plays flac files, accepts up to 2tb microSD cards (when they invent them) and has a high quality DAC build right into it.

I think it looks butt fine

plus if it doesn't try to escape from my pockets like my iPhone I could relax about listening to music while doing stuff.

PS: the 6 Plus is prone to bending, so it's not a good idea to hold it hostage with tight clothes.
