lol, because athletes suck at overcoming obstacles or succeeding despite adversity, especially when they have to jump into greenish water or run over some patchy grass or some poo poo

I've got a friend with a pool they never cover so it has a poo poo load of tree leaves and debris and organic crap they never clean out and the surface looks like it's peeling off.

But the water is blue and doesn't smell like farts. I'd consider that a big failure

Ah yes, the unity of athletes refusing to take buses to events with other nations and refusing to shake hands with other athletes they hate.

it's looking like a pretty brutal race, almost zero shade but it's still "just" 73f there. It could keep steadily rising by around 20 degrees/hour, so We'll start to see people breaking down after the 1:30 mark, I predict.

They can just shuffle it around on the track, it'll be fine...

Really though, how can they not know how long the course is? Stick a fucker on a moped and tell him to turn on his run-tracker app of choice.

It would be very tempting as a volunteer to don a swamp thing costume and sneak into the diving pool to emerge just as events start for the day.

I'd pay to see that and the inflatable pad launch method for open water swimming.

Sure you'd get kicked out, but you could just go hang out with the sole Russian track & field athlete who just got banned and the ever-increasing list of athletes getting caught at the games for doping. They've had to set up an emergency panel to handle all of the cases.
