tbh, as much as i like og love live, this show feels like 'what if og love live was funny *and* well-written and characterized' im okay with them rehashing plot points because they're actually executing well on them

Yeah, it's doing a much better job of getting me to like characters I didn't expect to like so I like practically most of the characters, whereas in og Love Live, there were definitely weaker characters, especially this early in s1.

It's like Quantum Leap, except every episode is about jumping into an idol and saving her school. Yohane is fabulous, even when she's exhausted.

ChikaRiko, HanamaRuby, and KanaMari seem to be what's being pushed by the show, but yeah, each grade seems pretty tight-knit. X X XEpisode 2 sold me on the first, the second is just obvious, and as to the third, well, this captain will go down with his ship.  X X X X

Rival group is boring. Even the sick flip was kinda meh. Maybe it'll change in the next episode. Also I've been wanting one of those jumbo nesoberi and seeing them lovingly rendered in the show is not helping that urge.

This episode felt... kind of flat. And with them in Tokyo it delays the full formation of the group even more. For OGLL, it took them 8 episodes, but it might take until 9. Maybe they'll get back to Uchiura next episode and deliver the rest of the trip as recent flashbacks?

This episode needed more of the 3rd years because they're the best but I still liked it. Everyone getting carried away in Tokyo was fun and I like how the rival group actually feels like a rival group. It wasn't until season 2 that A-Rise really became rivals and before that they were just the team ranked number 1, while this group seems more similarly ranked to Aqours and an opponent from the beginning. I'm not sure how I feel about this big school idol contest though. Because while it is interfering with getting the group together, which needs to happen soon because the 3rd years need to show up more, one of the things that bothered me a bit in og LL was that outside of the Love Live itself it didn't feel like μ's was actually competing against other groups. They just kinda kept going up in rank between episodes (though Sunshine is doing the same thing). I'm kinda down for a concert to show there's actual stakes in this school idol business, that there's people for them to beat or reasons for them to improve outside of an arbitrary ranking system.

What was wrong with this episode? This episode was the best. Tokyo prep dorkgirls reign on high. I hope they make half a dozen more of these and let the third years have their two minutes of aloofness per episode until next season.
