Any more buttons would have required 2 bytes and been wasteful. The amount of optimization that went into SMB is admirable.

Ugh. I got to see what a Sega Saturn looks like on a PVM and now I'm seriously considering one even though I have a Framemeister Seriously it looked like what I'd imagine a Sega Saturn emulator would look like with a good graphics card. How does it do such magic?

Instant Sunrise posted:Yeah? well I've got a Gameshark Pro and an old laptop with a parallel port. There is absolutely no need to keep Windows 98 airgapped. Modern malware will fail to run or install on it because it's expecting a newer operating system with an NT kernel like XP. Of course you'll have a hell of a time browsing as IE6 won't handle modern javascript, and the latest Firefox that'll run without KernelEx is the 2.0 branch, and that'll have problems with a lot of https sites these days. There's K-Meleon, but you'll need to use an older version, which is based on Firefox's engine but was getting updates on a Windows 98 compatible version up to like 2013. What you want is this though: http://fishmech.net/gscc_xp.7z Despite the XP in the name, it does run just fine on 98. It handles basically all the functions of the N64 GameShark with the parallel port, and as well all the functions of that one PlayStation 1 GameShark that had a parallel port connection as well. You can even dump your own ROM files, take screenshots while playing games on the system, all sorts of neat stuff! Also, I highly recommend just getting an ethernet card for the laptop and using Windows file sharing for transferring stuff around. It works just fine with modern Windows.

Getting rid of the artifacting from composite seems to definitely sharpen up the edges of polygons and make it look a lot nicer.

Its the penguin. Glad to hear it will work. Also I love the 5 digit game codes, makes looking this stuff up much easier. On the bad side however, there were 10 doubles, so I'm down to 92 and they seem much more skewed towards baseball, anime and Nintendo sports than to the stuff I'd like. Good mix of RPGs in there to but those are of extremely limited use to my non-Japanese speaking self. Famista count: 4 copies, all of the exact same game too, none from other years. Its really odd too, seeing as the internet tells me that it is quite rare.

You know bottlecaps in fallout games? That's Japan and famicarts. A regular segment in special streams of a crew I watch is a helper travelling through Japan set to arrive towards the end of the weekend/week of streaming, stopping to gather famicarts from viewers across Japan. 250-500 every haul but where the hell do they go afterwards, guy's gotta have enough to fill a new foundation for Kumamoto castle repairs.
