105 on a good day, it seems. Averaged 102 testing drivers today. I don't play this particular driver. I have the same shaft in my F6+ but in stiff. The regular in this R1 feels a little boardy to me.

Great offer but I'll pass on this one mate, just too used to Stiff driver shaft and I'm sure my swing is ~110. Hope you get what you want on eBay - those guys are bastards for fees now, think it's 10%.

No problem man. I played from the tips, Josh Lyman. I snuck in to a Golfsmith, bought a practically new demo Vapor Fly for $73 ($99 - 2 club trade ins). I hit some decent drives and some not-so-decent drives, but it's a VERY spinny shaft (stock Tensei stiff), so headwind drives went nowhere, and tailwind drives were gigantic. I went in after the round and swapped it for the Vapor Fly with the (stock) Diamana in it, no charge. So that's nice. I had a pretty good putting day, for the most part, especially on the back 9. But the real heroes of the day were my irons. I read some tip in passing about focusing on hitting the ball and then a tee 8 inches in front of the ball. That visual has led to a lot of solid shots, even with the fairway woods. I did well on the par 5s, not so well on the par 3s for the most part. #6 was very frustrating because I knew it was downhill but I just weaseled out of a birdie putt on the previous hole, so I wanted to be aggressive. Ran it 8 feet by, never gave the par putt a chance. The other one, I flew the green out of the greenside bunker and was lucky to get up and down for bogey. The par 5 birdies were a two-putt birdie (after lacing a 3W from the right rough over a creek short of the green), a 30 yard pitch that was two rotations short of falling for an eagle, and an up and down from a greenside bunker. Got unlucky that I lost my drive left on the 12th, but hey. The birdie on 17 was nice. Got a decent kick off the slope of a greenside bunker to about 3 feet, but it was a putt with a LOT of break in it. I just hit it hard enough to take most of it out, and the ball popped up in the air and fell in. I had a really nice opportunity for a birdie on the last, but it was slick downhill putt, and it just wasn't on the right line.

Solid round Kameh, wish I had that consistency. Had my second lesson tonight. I've ingrained keeping my right shoulder relaxed/back so it's in-line or slightly behind my leading arm at address. Other big thing was using my body a lot more through the whole swing. Got to remember to keep moving hips after contact. Removing my bad habit of trying to murder the ball at the top which was the reason for my arm swing. Just got to hit a million balls to lock in the muscle memory. I can actually hit a driver now, look out!

I was talking to the vp where I work today. He's a big golfer and when he travels internationally he always brings his clubs. He said that when he golfed in India they ask you if want a "jamboy" - you pay $10 to have a kid that smears jam all over himself and follows you around to attract flies because the flies are so bad. He said no at first then after 2 holes did it. I can't decide if he was messing with me. Does anyone have any experiences with jam boys. I won't kink shame dangling pointer fucked around with this message at 23:52 on Aug 15, 2016 |

No, but when I played in Pakistan, we had to have caddies (three were local pros, mine was my driver's nephew, because I was in charge and they wanted to take special care of me. He had never played golf), and a forecaddy. Now, I like having a forecaddy, you don't lose balls that way. In this case, his primary job was to beat the tall grass near you to drive away venomous snakes, like, no poo poo, cobra's. You were NOT to walk into tall grass without him going first.

My question is if your forecaddy gets bit by a venomous snake looking for your Pro V you sliced the poo poo out of do they just cart him away and bring in another guy and you continue the round. Crazy! Anyone else have weird golfing stories abroad. I've never played outside the US, it's interesting to hear. dangling pointer fucked around with this message at 00:46 on Aug 16, 2016 |

Crazy! It was more poignant because he was about 12. We tipped well, as I suspect all foreigners from wealthier countries do. Nice course. Each hole had a different man with a hose who hand watered the greens. He sat in the shade and had a schedule of when to drench the green. Labor costs are so low it's much cheaper than installing a sprinkler system.

It's back to the drawing board for me. Too many 3 putts, too many bad pitches, and too many bad 4 hybrids. At this point, I've lost all confidence in putting and the hybrids. Going to reboot on the putting form (it's bad) and I don't know what to do about the long irons/hyrbids. I just don't have any confidence in the swing which results in all kinds of bad things happening. I also have a bad attitude when things go really bad. I'm still pissed out my golf this week and I'm still convinced that unless you are a natural, Golf isn't a sport that you can just pick up and be good at when you start later in life.

Humbling experience but It's completely changed me and I actually have confidence with a driver for the first time ever.

Sorry all. Internet here has been a bit spotty. Also Glenmourangie is a lovely distillery. All sorts of porn from Dornoch, Castle Stuart, and more Carnegie Club on the way. I was on goddamn fire this morning at Carnegie and finally broke 90 out here thanks to some favorable winds and shockingly gorgeous weather.

I was pleasantly surprised at how confident my putting became. I used to hate 3-6 foot putts. I toe putted for two years at anything under 8 feet, I was so bad. Changed to the claw and had to relearn long putts, but up to 10 feet, I feel like I can hit them all. torgeaux fucked around with this message at 00:23 on Aug 17, 2016 |

drat it, guys. You know them rounds where you're like 1 over through 12 and then all of a sudden you bogey the next 5 and par the last? That has happened to me twice in the last week. I guessing shooting back to back 78's should feel better than this, especially since both courses I played were 7100+ yards with pretty difficult ratings and slope, but man! I wish I could say it was my putting too, but it's not and it's not my tee shots either. Nearly all of the boges came from duffed >100 yard chips which is usually my money zone. I guess the last round wasn't the best putting wise, but I never really put myself in a better place on the green to have better then 30/70 odds of making a 1 putt. I had 2 bogies, 1 bird and 6 pars on the front. Also that birdie was on a par5 where I missed an eagle putt by about 5 inches. YAY

That's like every round of mine ever. If I play in a league next year I'll have a + handicap and everyone will think I've been sandbagging because I start strong most of my rounds and then after nine holes inevitably poo poo the bed and end up somewhere in the mid/high 70s.

The pro I'm seeing has an iPad with swing analysis software. He has my original swing from my first lesson and shows the progression side by side every week. You should see if there's someone who does similar. Last week's lesson I was hitting it great and he showed me the latest video. He drew the swing path line and my takeaway was just above the line. The downswing was just just underneath it. It's the first time I've seen myself do that on video and it was bloody amazing. Just fixing my swing path has given me so much more confidence.

NickRoweFillea posted:Godspeed on breaking your game down and building it back up daslog So I think I've asked this before, but I will ask again. What do you look for from a golf instructor? Should he have some sort of certification? I took lessons from this guy for a while, busted my rear end hitting balls, with barely any improvement. I want lessons, but preferably not from a charlatan. Also, would be interested in being pointed in the direction of specialists for golf-specific workouts. Now that the season is almost over, I would really like to focus on building/rebuilding my swing. Come out next season not terrible and not constantly reverting to bad habits just to try winning a league match.
