How the gently caress does someone become a person who never shuts up? Have not their parents, siblings, presumable friends etc. never noted that "holy poo poo you must be quiet at some point Jesus Christ". It's not even a conversation, it is just one person's unending stream of consciousness with my "umm, yeah" every now and then. Is it a mental ilness? I've been on this shift for an hour and I am at an end already. I'm hungover and pretending to be writing a text message to get a moment of peace, not that they have stopped talking. If you literally narrate everything you are doing at the moment you"re at least a little crazy, right?

Some people really, literally do not know how to walk without stomping. Either they're physically incapable of it, or they were never taught. I lived in a house with a couple of girls who were tiny but put every ounce of their weight down on every single awful step and it drove me absolutely bananas.

No offense to you but people who send noise/whatever complaints to the management constantly for no real reason. My neighbor always sends ones about me "making noise" when I'm quiet as gently caress, I put my tv on minuscule volume so I can barely hear it, and I guess my cats running around @6pm before being fed is enough to warrant a complaint. They sleep the rest of the day (they are cats). She bangs on my wall when I move my mouse on my keyboard too loud. Recently she sent one that I was "smoking marijuana and that she was gonna call the police if she smelled it again." I guess she thought the febreze I sprayed was marijuana? I don't smoke marijuana. I hope the police write her a ticket for false police report if she DOES put one in. She's scared off TWO renters so far who each only stayed a few months cause of her incessant complaints against them (I never had any problems w them, they were all super cool). My management said "some people shouldn't live in apartments" and I agree. Thin Privilege has a new favorite as of 05:16 on Aug 16, 2016 |

I had a wall neighbor who left an angry note on the building's front door informing the person in the apartment next to his (me) that whatever machine I'd purchased that was producing a high-pitched noise was very annoying and that I had to let him look at my room to see what it was. I can't convey exactly how loony his writing was, it really made him sound like he was a paranoiac (he said that if it didn't stop he was going to buy a machine that made a similar noise and point it at my room). The landlord emailed me about it and we concluded that he probably had tinnitus.

After several loud as gently caress parties when they first moved in, and then after that putting their very nice speakers against our common wall to play the shittiest of club music, I became the incessantly complaining neighbor and I hate it. Until recently, any peep over there sends me into paranoia that it's going to get worse at any moment. I've chilled out now that one of the douchebags has a regular early morning job so they are much quieter now. I don't even know why they are here. It's a hip part of town, but this specific area skews older than the party houses across the tracks.

So, I read this thing on reddit that apparently, you might be able to use someone's speakers remotely. So, if it's pissing you off enough and you've got money to blow, you should definitely invest in some of the best petty revenge there is.

There were some times where I might have tried that. Luckily my property managers didn't gently caress around and got on those fuckers case pretty heavy, and luckily there was very little if any retaliation. Now if there were only a way to shock them everytime they said "bro!!!" loudly in the kitchen. Jesus.

We share the washing machine in our apartment building (only 8 apartments) and you just write in the time and day you want to use it and everything should be fine. It works 90% of the time, but a few specialists think they don't need to write themselfs into the roster. It never happend that they are washing while it would be my turn which I'm really glad for, it is annoying though if you want to hang up your clothes to dry and all the space is used by them since they won't take it down for 2 days or longer. But since they didn't write themselfs in the list I have no way of knowing who they are so I could ask them to take their poo poo down. It then also enrages me that something so petty is actually making me angry. We are slowly getting all of them in an building whatsapp group so maybe one day we'll be able to sort it out that way

I lived in an apartment building for a couple years and people try and cheat the system all the time and it drove me nuts. The most common thing, similar to what you described, were the people leaving things to dry overnight. I get it, it takes things a long time to dry when you're hanging them up even with the big fan thing they had down there, but at least have the decency to take it down before the first slot starts the next day. Probably half the time I sign up for the morning slot I had to wait for the cheaters to wake up at 10am and take their sweet time going to take it down. We also were forbidden to use the laundry room on Sundays and any holiday - the landlord would actually come check to make sure people weren't violating the sacred rule of "no work on sundays" and you'd get an angry talking to if you were caught. Still, people would wait for him to pop by and then immediately go down to start a load. That one didn't bother me particularly because who cares, but seriously, following the rules isn't hard, just plan your laundry days in advance....but not too far in advance - one of the other major annoyances with that system were the people who would wait for the landlord to bring a new signup sheet every month and immediately claim every saturday, every slot. I managed to snag a saturday slot maybe 5 or 6 times the entire time I lived there because of these people. It really makes you appreciate the luxury of having your own machine and actual dryer. I would hate going back to such an awful system.

Made it even more jarring when I first was getting used to it. I particularly cared about people following the rules because my apartment was right over the drying room, so the overnight cheaters meant I'd always have a faint whirring noise constantly coming from the floor while I tried to sleep.

Hahahahaha. My apartment building's laundry rooms have nothing even remotely like a schedule or a signup sheet. It's all first come first served. Fortunately the one I use is kind of tucked into the garden level (where my apartment is) on a hall without many people, so I'm only fighting 5 or 6 people for the (singular) washer/dryer rather than 30 or 40. Still, it works about as well as you'd imagine. (There are other laundry rooms throughout the building in a pinch, but the next nearest one is up two flights of stairs and gently caress that.)

The "noisy neighbor" chat reminds me of this roommate I had back in college who would repeatedly play the latest RHCP album (whichever one was released sometime 2004-2008) on his speakers. I was a dumbass who never really spoke up about how obnoxious it was, but I don't understand why 1. he didn't use headphones and 2. he wanted to listen to the exact same album every single day for months. I think that roommate was having various issues at the time, because he was also extremely messy. Oh, here's a picture of how bad it was (literally all trash in this picture was his): edit: Oh I forgot the picture of the kitchen, which was arguably even worse: Ytlaya has a new favorite as of 19:58 on Aug 16, 2016 |

My mom lives in a townhouse. Her new neighbors installed a basketball thingy inside the house ! You have a perfectly good porch which is bigger than the inside of your house! All day it's BANG BANG BANG. We even were friendly and gave them a booklet from *city* free sports teams/events where your kids could play basketball all day! Your kids would be so happy to play with other kids than banging on their townhouse wall! But noooooo lets force these poor kids to play basketball in a 10x10 kitchen instead of an athletically-sized gym.
