Yet another guy got caught up in a cloud of steam when the vulcanizer (think big pressure cooker) blew a seal while he was loading extruded parts into the rails that would go into the vulcanizer the next day (this last one was less about ignoring safety warnings and was more on the company, but still, bad poo poo happens in real life). All of these guys survived, but were mangled by on-the-job equipment safety issues. Not all stories are bullshit.

As a firearm coach this stuff drives me up the wall. It's always the same thing. Take girlfriend/friend shooting for the first time, don't show them how to shoot *giggle* here a massive firearm, don't worry it won't kick... BOOM *LOL* weapon goes flying possibly killing someone, person never fires a weapon again, is afraid of guns for life, never touches a firearm again. People are assholes, and its no wonder there are so many firearms accidents. I'm glad in Canada we are forced to take classes and tests even if just to piss off people who think safety is for stupid people. I was on a range with a CBSA agent (Canadian Border Services Agencies) and his wife among other people. Most of us were military except them and one of my friends. This guy's wife obviously didn't want to be there, and was haphazardly firing her .22 at targets while he messed around with his weapon. Whenever she stopped firing she would turn and "laze" (point her rifle) the whole firing line with a loaded weapon. I think anyone of almost any age can be safely taught how to shoot and enjoy it as long as you do it right. Make sure they respect the gun's ability to kill whatever they point it at so they don't do something stupid, but also divorce them of any "This is a horrible thing designed only to hurt people and it's scary to hold" notions they may have beforehand that will make them shrink away from it.

Guys guys I have an OSHA story. So the other week we moved to a new office. Then this guy came in and told us what all the knobs on our office chairs are for. He also told us how to set our desk height and what's the most ergonomic position to work in. Then he left, and I moved my chair back into 'lazy as gently caress' mode.

The most convincing argument I ever heard from a pro-gun person for "why guns shouldn't be outlawed" is that if guns were outlawed and anyone tried to take them from him, he would murder them, and he's someone who is relatively stable. Then multiply that across all gun owners and that would really suck.

Not an hour later someone trips over the run of cable and sprains their freaking wrist. Safety rules exist for a reason, folks.

I know it's a losing proposition to ever discuss the feasibility of one of this guy's insane concepts, but this one always struck me as particularly dumb because...like...why does it need to have the ejecting capsule in the first place? Why not just make the parachutes 20% bigger and save the whole plane?
