Remember the grotesque character Domino's came up with to sell pizza? It was called The Noid and the ad campaign encourages people to "avoid the Noid" Well, about that: wikipedia posted:On January 30, 1989, Kenneth Lamar Noid, a mentally ill man who thought the ads were a personal attack on him, held two employees of an Atlanta Domino's restaurant hostage for over five hours. After forcing them to make him a pizza and making demands for $100,000, getaway transportation, and a copy of The Widow's Son, Noid surrendered to the police. Does anyone remember those Dominos commercials from the late 90s where they replaced the Noid with an evil talking action figure that would try to steal pizza and get run over or set on fire? It was like they 1. were out of money, 2. were out of ideas, and 3. wanted an excuse to blow up action figures. EDIT: Apparently he was named "Doctor Cravin" and the only commercial I can find is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwX9AKtKZqI And here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PIc8Jk4IRw And here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v93oqDBhfUk I know there was one where he's set on fire. Is Jimmy Hendrix no longer considered an amazing guitarist or something? Also I personally can't stand his stuff but I have heard guitarists slobber over Steve Vai - but neither of them is even in the top 20???

40. Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine)..... uh 40? That dude makes sounds from a guitar that can't come from a guitar. 20. Neil Young.... Love the guy but when I think of him I think of his song writing, not his wicked solos. 4. Kurt Cobain..... see #20. Slash..... loving..... god drat Slash.... is not even on the list. What the gently caress? Also what treiz01 said. Hendrix, not on the list. Both slash and Hendrix could be in the top 5. This article is just insane. edit: I don't know what's real anymore.

Well apparently Spin didn't even know that and still put him on the list. Believing he didn't play the guitar, yet still made the list. No clue about his skills, but that's just insane.

Eric Clapton? Steve Vai? Jimi Hendrix? Frank Zappa? Slash? They all pale next to the mighty SKRILLEX.DrBouvenstein posted:I believe the same ad company also did those weird Starburst commercials from the same era: I love that one. It almost feels like something out of a Japanese gameshow. Okay, I know I said I was only going to post my favorite Skittles commercial, but this one is hard to ignore when it comes to "WTF did I just watch?" They took a really goofy premise and played it so serious that it's actually a little disturbing. Very rarely in candy commercials do you see a grieving old man confess to killing a guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp0WBiME_fM Also, does anyone remember the one where two parents discover that their son has nothing but green M&Ms in his nightstand? I've always thought it was weird that M&Ms wanted to make a sexy M&M.

You can argue about the listing on that guitar thing forever but at least it's free off boring blues-rock wankery that only impressed stoned people in the 70s, and has people who may be bad at technical guitar but are actually interesting

I think they're referring to "Darkened Skye". According to the game's wikipedia article "Its title character is a young woman named Skye who lives in a fantasy realm searching for her mother. She does not use firearms, but can perform magic using Skittles candies, as well as use her staff as a melee weapon, though it also becomes an energy weapon when used in conjunction with the Skittles."

Get this: "Top 10/50/100" are always bad, especially when it comes to art, because it's impossible to compare compositions that are specifically designed to appeal to emotion. This is not to say that artists can't be judged at all. Obviously technical skills are a factor, as well as the work's ability to challenge the medium. Saying that Crime and Punishment describes the human condition better than Murder on the Orient Express even though they are both detective novels is not exactly a controversial opinion. But trying to decide who/what is the 3rd best whatever as opposed to the 7th is absurd. These sorts of lists are written only because it's an easy way get page views, since it's in an easily digestible format, while allowing the writer to sperg out about his favourite musicians.
