mobby_6kl posted:I'm trying to mount my fake gopro by sticking a bolt through the M6-sized holes in the "mouth" of the bumper, where presumably the aftermarket grille inserts are mounted. I managed to stick the bolt though the hole in the top plastic cover but it felt pretty floppy and probably won't hold the camera well once driving. I'd assume that the holes go deeper than that to enable the inserts to be bolted down, but the problem is that I need the bolt the other way, so that the threaded side ends up sticking out. Does anyone know if it's reasonably possible to get to them from the other side without removing a bunch of stuff from the car? Do they even go all the way through? This turned out to be simpler than I expected. You can easily reach the hole from the other side, but it's pretty much necessary to lie on the ground and stick your hand in from below the bumper, turn around, and try to find the hole from that side. Depending on the thread depth in the mount, a 15-18mm long bolt with a nut works great. Once tightened with a wrench, it holds pretty well. This gives a great sensation of speed since it's so close to the ground, but unfortunately the location isn't as good as I thought - it's too recessed and as a result the insides of the bumper take up the majority of the frame. Doing some lens correction helps and results in wide strips that could be used with some fancy editing, but not as a main view: The other issue is that the dark bumper surfaces causes the camera to overexpose brighter stuff outside, though changing metering to centered would probably help. Since this is so easy to do, it might be worthwhile to do a lap at autocross like this, but it's probably better to just stick a suction cup there and use the bolt as a backup to make sure it doesn't fall off. I DID A THING All kinds of gross corrosion on this sucker. When I had my head down there I did find some fluid but most of it appear to be leaking into the engine bay. Finished swapping in the parts (I was missing my 12mm deep so it had to wait til today), bled the slave, pressure on the pedal is good and we're back on the road! Thanks for the insight and help guys!

My taillight has started scraping paint off the bumper. It's been really hot here recently, so maybe the plastic has enlarged a bit. Anyone else seen this? Also having issues with the top rubbing and creating wear points, but waiting to see if the replacement that other people are getting actually fixes the problem.

The threads on Mnet say that the replacement top is the Grand Touring one with the interior cloth bit, but more than a few people have said that it hasn't fixed the problem of the rubbing. I'm waiting for another 6 months or so to get all of the TSBs and whatnot done. I have 11k and no transmission issues, so .

Heads up to NC owners w/ steering wheel controls who are replacing the stock headunit: the Metra 79-7903 harness does not have the two pins to properly wire in the Axxess ASWC-1 module. However, the blue and blue/white wires in the Metra harness are not used and you can (very carefully) pull them out and move the pins over to properly connect the ASWC-1 versus having to splice in the ASWC-1 to the car's harness, which defeats the whole plug-and-play purpose of the Metra harness. Also, anyone with a PRHT pick up a SmartTop module? Seems pricey but amazingly convenient. edit: Coming from a 1992 Jeep Cherokee I feel like I am working on a spaceship instead of a car. I have a SmartTop module in my PRHT and I love it, I'd definitely recommend picking one up. Raising and lowering the roof while rolling below 20mph is great. Previous owner installed it, so I'm no help on install difficulty. I'd put the smart top upgrade behind shocks and struts, and behind the intermittent wiper upgrade, but before everything else.

Hell yes. I figured after they switched to Dodge that maybe they'd get some 500 Abarths so that they have some lower-powered options for a full-body car (ever since they dropped Ford, all of their production based cars have been in the range of 400hp or higher - fun, but I can't imagine it's ideal for training people who in many cases have never been on a track). Fiata is clearly an even better choice. Oh, and if you get a Fiata Abarth, now you get a free session at Bondurant. I've never taken anything that in-depth there but what little I have experienced is very much worth it.

As long as the insides aren't rattling around it should be fine right? I went with a racing beat test pipe when mine went, but now the Yonaka exhaust sounds like bees in a can instead of the nice low rumble like it did before Also gonna make an attempt at DIY giant dent removal, should be fun

Phone posted:Whenever I make it into the garage, I'll take some pics and a video. Yeah I thought about that but I figured I'd go with what I know will sound good instead of going with something else that might sound bad. Thing is I'm not entirely sure if it's the test pipe alone and/or if there's pieces of the shot cat in the muffler making the noise. It sounds fine at low rpm's, but once it gets up around 4k it gets the bees in a can sound that I can't stand. I figured that if any poo poo was still in there it would have gotten blown out by now but who knows.

At least locally, the Ford dealers don't keep much in stock. I had to go to 2 dealerships to get 3 quarts and that was all they had. I think I paid $25/qt.

I changed to the Ford magic fluid in the NB and it did gently caress-all to my 2nd gear shifts. Not saying it never works, perhaps it helps in certain circumstances, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it based on experience.
