As a tech consultant I feel like I can chime in here: 8 million in a single month for a fundraising website is hilarious. Props to whatever consulting company landed that contract because they're living high on the hog right now.

Giles seems to be related to a famous San Antonio architect named Alfred Giles. We need to go deeper, an $8mil payment to a web developer who makes San Antonio restaurant sites is too fishy

You tell me what you see on there that doesn't look like normal lovely websites? Like everything there is super plain an generic, and clicking on a few of the sites, the websites don't really work well

They seem fine.

But much like 99.9% of other websites on the planet, nowhere near $8 million fine (even if all of that didn't go into the web design itself).

It's a content management system, pretty popular with large sites. Kinda esoteric and weird but all CMSs are.

it's not uncommon for a shop to get large enough where they are just pumping things out that are generic templates/CMS, either

nah I see this kind of stuff all the time. if you have a good sales team they're very good at spotting company's or people who are both rich and technically illiterate. if you know how to build a good contract you can run circles around people who've never handled a tech project before.

granted this is a pretty extreme example but hey it's Trump. he's never one to disappoint

Best part: there were no fireworks at the RNC.

quote:

As he kicked around proposals for how to make his grand entrance, he nixed the idea of riding into Cleveland on a train. “It’s been done,” he said.

He has also ruled out speaking on the final night of the convention from an open-air stadium rather than from inside Quicken Loans Arena — too expensive, he worried — even though he was intrigued by the idea of landing on the stage in a helicopter. “Pretty cool,” he said.

The campaign had also discussed the idea of having fireworks in the arena, but that proved unworkable.

I work in data and yes, things like OCEAN are just marketing garbage to sell data products that make a token appearance in the actual analytics side of it, even if middle management 'stresses' on it in company meetings.

it usually just comes down to meat and bones analytics which you don't have to loving PAY $8 MILLION FOR.
