I really liked VC at first for the campaign but it doesn't have a ton of replay value in my opinion. Watching your lord and some heroes destroy everything is fun for a while but I got sick of it, and no range and artillery gets old. Some new lords and units will be fun but I'd imagine I'll play one campaign as each and then not touch them again for a while.

Apropos of nothing: If you're starting to get bored with the campaign and haven't tried it, I recommend the conquer anywhere mod. In my last Empire game everything north of the river was occupied/razed by the chaos factions and basically every other turn involved chaos attacks on Wurtbad, Altdorf, Marienburg, and Kemperbad. It was a lot of fun.

Why not? Mannfred was Vlad's most favored son, even though Mannfred went full Starscream and arranged for the theft of Vlad's ring, indirectly causing his untimely death at the hands of the Battle Pope.

Lore-wise, the only wrong part is that Vlad has been dead for three-hundred years at this point, and usually that would make me wanna sperg, but the world has been destroyed by GW, and in the End Times, Nagash ressurrected pretty much every named undead character ever, so I'm cool with it, CA please go hog wild.

Vlad is due to be brought back around this time so it isnt that bad, part of manfred and kemmlers quest chain is getting nagash's relics to i assume resurrect him. Its a shame the ending cutscene to completing that quest chain isnt nagash trolling the gently caress out of manfred by being like I WILL MAKE THE GREATEST VAMPIRE EVER MY RIGHT HAND and then just resurrecting vlad and kicking manfred to the curb.

I expected them to add Vlad with the tomb kings stuff since isnt he nagash's brother or something before he bounced to become dracula?

My current VC campaign is probably the first ever time I've seen the AI get rebellions, which has made it novel enough for me.

I'm also beginning to see what you lot mean about instantly beating the pulp out of Zhufbar and Karak Kadrin as VC. Waited just a little bit too long, and they were confederated in quick succession :cripes:. I had to start shoveling money at the greenskins to put pressure on the dwarves in the badlands so that I could beat the bloody hell out of them up north. Luckily, that's sorting itself out. Just a couple more settlements to raze in the northern worlds edge mountains, then I can stop worrying about them at all and focus on Brettonia. The Empire is officially a non-starter - Empire Secessionists are more powerful than they are currently, it's hilarious.

edit: I installed Radious mod because I was curious, then I saw skeleton archers and I uninstalled it.

Yeah its hilarious, when he had just launched the unit pack someone made fun of him I think on TWC or workshop comments and he got really mad saying something like "I'm sick and tired of people saying I'm just going to homogenise all the armies and give vampires archers shut up!" and now vampires have archers and every army can field anything they want.

FWIW I quite like Radious for Rome 2 although Divide et Impera is far better but Warhammer has properly assymetric factions and the only good mods are the ones that accept and embrace that.

My favorite factions are VC and Dwarfs.

VC's for being no ranged super monsters, fast as gently caress and so self-sustaining it feels like you're cheating plus your Lords are miniature Gods of Death who just won't go down. Also the raise dead mechanics is geniuenly interesting and offers an entirely different way to raise an army. Ive never run into the bug where it doesn't scale and i have 400 hours on record now for this drat game :ohdear:.

Dwarfs for being the absolute kings of "Come at me bro" Elite melee dudes, the best ranged in the game thus far, everyone is armoured up six ways to sunday.

They're so vastly different but for me they are masters at their respective type of gameplay and that loving owns for me.

Beastmen are definitely my favs in terms of playstyle, they feel the most refined to me since their whole army is built to a singular purpose - rushing into a charge. Having a whole army thats as fast as a lot of cavalry also makes flanking much easier.

They also own bones in the campaign with their ambushing and stealth and crazy experience upgrades.

They remind me a lot of the barbarians in TW: Arena, who were added in later and were much more specialised than the other armies, they die in droves to missile fire and sustained assault but kick out absurd amounts of damage in favourable charges.
I found them a lot more rewarding to play than the Greeks or Romans whose melee only started to deal damage in the high tiers. Also like the beastmen with their autoambush the barbs had a unique OP skill - disguise - where you would appear as friendly to the enemy players allowing you to slam into skirmisher blobs from behind with disguised cavalry leading to some great moments.
I have no idea what happened to Arena, it was pretty good.

Yeah ok, that definitely makes him stand out compared to Kemmler and the rest of the Necromancers. That's pretty much your frontline and cavalry getting tagged constantly with melee and speed penalties, poo poo.

Arch Lectors as generals sound pimping: Empire Generals aren't combat monsters and having Warrior Priest buffs on your mandatory general slot is really drat useful since State Troops need all the help they can get. I imagine they won't have access to a Griffon mount for balance though, and that's gonna hurt even if only high-level Generals get to use them since they make fantastic interceptors and can spook enemies into routing.

I'm a big fan of this pack in general, much better value for me than the beastmen. I don't care at all about the dumb reskinned "prestige units" but there is actually a lot of other cool things in the DLC which I wasn't expecting.

Are there any slowing auras already in the game or is this new? Wondering if they slow attack speed or just movement speed. If it slows attack speed then the Chillgheists sound really good, especially combined with poison attacks they can get from Ghorst.

The prestige units are interesting to me, though, because they are insta-recruiting. If you could recruit them in enemy territory, they would be great for bolstering your numbers before or after difficult battles.

Spears also lack stalk and the shield, have lower damage, slightly lower melee stats and 5 less LD. They're about half the upkeep of a standard herd but I'm not sure that it's a big enough consideration for lacking everything else. The only thing they really have going for them is the anti large and I usually keep a couple units around for that. I don't really know what else beastmen get anti-large from, actually.

I usually just use raiders for vanguard stuff, it generally turns out well unless the enemy is pretty cav heavy. Sometimes I throw in a few herds for support, but that tends to start stretching my line pretty thing.

Beastmen can get a follower that gives the attached hero/lord poison attacks (also a banner for the same). I now have a poison gorebull. It feels extremely gratuitous.

My question, how does stalk work? how far can they stay hidden from?
