The difference is that all FFG, and everyone else at Gencon, is doing is showing off their latest games and wares. It's all things that will be made commercially available. What's the Wedge R3/Juke gimmick? Wedge TLs as an action, then attacks, rolls something like hit, hit, eyeball. Cancels eyeball to gain an Evade. Uses the evade with Juke to change the defender's result to an eyeball, forcing them to spend a token? Maybe pair with VI Wes to strip the the defender's token first?

Yep, that's it. Also helps with Wedge's survivability, since Zuckuss can't force a reroll of a token and it gives him more reliable defense with a higher ceiling.

It's generally better than Predator, as long as specific circumstances don't appear. If the other ship still has a focus or a way to turn a eyeball to an evade (Luke, Keyan etc.) then Juke doesn't do him much good but the evade might still be useful. They only time I've used it was against Biggs, Wes and Corran.

Also Wedge's ability means that Keyan doesn't have any defense dice whatsoever so he wouldn't be able to use it anyway.

Castling is rarely a winning strategy, because actions are so important. Scum crew makes it less bad. A castled party bus with Dengar, 4-Lom, and Zuckuss would be pretty hard to approach with some lists.

But since he has Dengar as a pilot, he doesn't have that party bus.

He has K4 security which has a similar function on a YV that just 1-straights into a bump every time. It's just everyone kills Dengar first because he has no defense in this build and he never shoots back so then Bossk has to finish games and he's not going to do that against a quality opponent. It uses tactical jammers to try to provide defense but with the YV being the one on the inside it doesn't matter.

Castling only really works if you're more efficient than your opponent and unfortunately a Dengar that never acts other than to get K4 and never gets to use his ability is the opposite of efficient.

I often wonder about castling with brobots. Is there any reason why just sitting in the corner and doing hard 1 turns into each other whilst you wait for the enemy to approach wouldn't work? With AdvSens for actions of course.

Brobots are fragile when there's concentrated fire coming down, and being unable to take focus or evade actions means against a decent meta list you'll lose one per turn and then the game.

They'll get R1 to you and force you to do something else. You're not really controlling the engagement range at that point and have to choose between covering your flanks or putting a significant amount of the board in your two arcs. Either way it's really bad for you.

And yeah it'll pretty much be evade every turn unless you want to die quick in which case you just take unmodified shots and then you don't trade as well.

Put in bottom corner. Bossk on outside edge facing in. Tel facing Bossk. Bump forever, getting TLs every turn.

Tel gets some minor defensive benefit from Elusiveness and Bossk has Determination! It's unbeatable*!

Dengar has to point toward the edge for that fortrress to work because it lets him bump Bossk, who gets a 180 arc which covers the whole area.

Hey, just wondering - what's a good counter to a double Defenders + AWACS TIE Bomber/Shuttle list? (Specifically using Maarek Stele+Rexler Brath with VI+Adapt so they're both PS9, as well as x7 and SD. Shuttle is pretty much the standard fare Fleet Office and Systems Officer, I think they're called?)
Since I've been using the above list to great affect against my dad whenever we both have time to actually get together and play x-wing over the past few months, however he's been using a variety of lists and is getting annoyed, as he's unable to beat it. (And I'm not overly keen on changing yet - I plan on using this list at the next event, so I want to meet my match with it/try going against various builds) I'm thinking perhaps a scum 'party bus' might be OK, however I'm firstly not sure about what the escort should be, plus he's not all that keen on the Scum playstyle for whatever reason. Are there any good Imp lists (or maybe even Reb), that counter it decently? He's more of a jouster than an arc-dodger, but isn't bad with a Phantom.

Thanks

Shoot down the Bomber first. Especially if it's lower PS than the Defenders. Avoid the joust, or force him to split his firepower so the PS9s can't kill a ship before it gets a shot off. Maarek and Rexler's abilities don't actually improve their offense any in terms of hits, so if you can force separation, you can tank their mods. If the Bomber has TIE Mk 2, they're pretty much locked to speed 3 banks and straight, or they'll either outpace it, or be unable to evade token up.

When the AWACs is down, pick one and concentrate fire.

EDIT: Alternately pick a list that can tank a couple hits, and survive the first round of shooting, and that brings good offense to the table. A quartet of Red Squads with R3 and Integrated might actually be a good pick if your bomber is the Gamma Squaddie. Scandalous, I know.

Ah, I'm actually using Deathfire for my AWACs pilot, as everyone I play against (especially him) loves using Pred, so the extra point is worth the lack of additional rerolls for the opponent. But yeah, he has been going for my Bomber/Shuttle first which I too think is a good move, but he hasn't been trying to split my Defenders' fire, which is a very good point - so far they've just been able to move and destroy targets one-by-one together.
I'll see if we can have a re-re-[...]-match and get him to place more emphasis on not making the initial joust, and then try to split my attention between targets.

EDIT: Unfortunately I've only got three T65 X-Wings though, so the Red Squadron option isn't available - does sound interesting, though! :D
