Just so folks are aware (and folks jump to the final page here), the LP is just on a brief hiatus because there *is* no backlog Scheduling issues abound! Asura's Wrath is the side-project since it's short-ish (and we have a different sent of schedules to juggle there). Also, Yokaiy posted this on twitter and it's gorgeous https://twitter.com/yoYokaiy/status/772931513885323264

You can find skulls in the ground. Stones come from the ground. Therefore skulls = stones.

It might be a fossil. Dark souls was all about the central theme of decay and entropy, dark souls 2 is actually a metaphor for the eternal struggle between archaeologists and geologists.

Stormgale posted:You know late night on the Dranglaic shopping network they will seem to flog you anything: I started a new run since we haven't had a new episode in a while and I needed my DS fix. Can confirm, maces are awesome. I remember in episode one or two or thereabouts Geop was going around Things Betwixt doing the tutorial and noticed the unlit sconces. There was some talk about whether you get something from lighting them all or not. It was an addition in the Scholar version, something does happen if you light them all in that area. In fact, there is at least one other area way later that has the same principle. I'm not talking about some one or two sconces in some dark corner of a fort or something, but if there is an area that is just lousy with sconces and generally void of light., it might pay to go full Zelda and light those mothers up.

By the way! We recorded a session this last weekend. I'll probably start posting it once we wrap up this Asura's Wrath session (meaning maybe in two weeks? I still have to edit this audio and that takes me a bit)

I really enjoyed the idea of making phantoms into secret enemies basically. It makes you jump at player phantoms every once in a while, such a simple idea with a great overall effect on the players thought model. DS2 does a lot of cool experimental dickish bullshit like that which is part of why I think its the best in the series, not because of its overall quality but because they just did a lot of unique things in general. The area where Geop encountered the enemy phantom was one of the places improved quite a bit in the SotFS edition too. Also glad to see this LP back on track!!

Almost all of the rings have different versions like that, too, and you can't wear them together, so when replaying the game I just typically ignore the lower versions and go straight to the best one as soon as I can. Edit: Oh, this place is probably number 3 or 4, around the same as the Pirate area, on my most hated areas list. Even though once you know how to get through there you can do it really, really easily, getting through there the first time was annoying.
