Kurt Busiek did the same with Jean Grey. I also find it funny you talking about how Geoff Johns destroys legacy characters when his best work was JSA and Wally West Flash.

I would bring back Cyclops, the FF4, and kill all events except for a recurring mini event where a book would randomly get invaded by The Living Ghost.

I would also go for that list of unused ideas Hickman had. Especially Armageddoom.

I'd get Spider-man remarried and throw Dan Slott into the heart of the sun.

And Colbert would be 616 president because it's stupid to pretend like the Marvel Universe reflects real-world politics when things like the registration act and HAMMER exist(ed).

Apart from Jessica Jones, have there been any new iconic characters introduced in the last 10-15 years without some sort of connection to a legacy mantle? I love Ms Marvel, and it's kind of sad to think that the book would have flopped if she'd just been introduced as "stretch-girl" or whatever.

I seriously doubt that the Ms Marvel title was what was responsible for the book's financial success, from my perspective Carol's always been a B-tier superhero that only got the insane popularity she did when she put on the Captain Marvel costume.

Oh come on, that's hardly a fair reason to be disqualified. Do new X-men not count because they're linked to other X-men?

Well that's because any new X-man character that seems slightly interesting is killed in a crossover 6 months later so they don't really have time to become iconic.

A world of singing, magic frogs,

The biggest reason (beyond conservative fans or conservative editors or conservative whatever) that there are pretty much only legacy/connected characters added to the Marvel/DC universe is that if you have a truly original and freestanding Good Idea as a creator for Marvel/DC, you can probably get a deal to publish it at Image (or Boom or Dark Horse or wherever) where you can own it and get all of the money for the movies and TV shows and reprints and everything else.

Also even the 'new' characters you're all listing are mostly 10+ years old and just barely squeak into the "15 years" model, and *all* of them pre-date the current wave of movie/tv windfalls:

Sentry (2000)
Jessica Jones (2001)
The Hood (2002)
Runaways (2003)
Amadeus Cho (2005)

Which also lends credence (beyond copious comments from writers themselves) that they're probably not champing at the bit to create a character in Avengers comics in 2016 that gets turned into a franchise in 2021 and they get like a thank you card instead of whatever money bin Robert Kirkman is rolling around in.

I don't even think he properly pitched it - I think he suggested it to Layton when they were sharing a hotel room or something, then about five years later when Layton was writing the first issue of X-Factor, he went ahead and used Busiek's idea.

I'm pretty sure the next event is gonna address the "time broke" stuff that ran through Bendis' run on the main books and keeps getting referenced in various ways, which is probably the way they're looping back the F4.

The best thing about this is that nobody cared about the creator's version of her. So either they'll make a book with a clear rip-off except not have all of the interesting things that people like about Miss America, or they'll have to steal the personality/look another writer/artist gave her that made her popular.

It turns out that once Cyclops killed Professor X's clone body, his mind drifted to space to find his original body. Once found, he returns to Earth and the X-men find it a bit weird at first to be lead by a Brood Queen in a suit and a hover chair but dammit if his dream isn't compelling to follow.

Also, with Benny C's movie on the horizon, how does Giruhiru have the audacity to make Doc Strange hot?
