Complications posted:Trip report: Went out in a division with Thronde today largely in T7 Battleships, and had buckets of fun. Every Nurnburg that came near us ended up as a set of fireworks. Pubbie RNG was in force, but with steady aim and a teammate to rely on it went pretty well. One match could be charitably described on our end as watching our team play bumper boats with 3-4 ship pileups occurring amidst constant collisions of two ships, but the other side somehow managed to out-blunder our guys. And out-blunder me, due to the fact that I parallel parked my Nagato against an island for several minutes. It took a lot of work on the enemy's end to lose. Having someone reliable along with is just an amazing breath of fresh air in this game, and really helps with player RNG. I need to division more. Thanks dude, it was fun. That ram kill was still worth it. Also, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck the Myogi.

The person was just shooting at max ranges till the end though, but I know (s)he had 3-4.

I had a 110k damage game yesterday. In a New York. Before it happened I would have told you it was almost impossible to break 100k with that ship thanks to the hilariously lovely dispersion pattern its guns have and thanks to the type of ships it fights against.

Man I really really need to start taking the German BB tree more seriously since they look like fun and BBs are my thing. IIRC Colorado is one of those ships where you really want to free xp the B hull immediately. Bayern is great, the best part is that all the damage you take (except torpedoes) is fully healable. Dreadnought for days.

Note that secondaries, while fun to watch vomit all over ships, even with manual control and all the AFT/range increases, won't come close to making up even a fourth of your damage. Maybe 14%, tops, if you are brawling toe to toe with everything. The real benefit is that it creates a zone of control around your ship depending on the range of the secondaries, where less experienced DDs are loathe to enter, which gives you operational breathing room in some situations. It's still fun to watch them shoot everywhere though. I've got the Nagato specced for it with manual control, but especially on the Nagato as most of them are AP, it does jack poo poo to other ships.

What Cruiser line would you guys recommend for gun pew pew? I don't really like what little of USN I've played (I have an Atlanta) as being an undergunned AA boat is kinda boring and iirc IJN is just torpedos. How do the German CAs play out?

Both the US and IJN are about shooting people with 203mm guns. The IJN prefers to use HE (unless there's a broadside cruiser or something) and the USN prefers to use AP (and will shoot at cruisers that are angled a little bit, because their ricochet angles are the best). That said the US line is kind of bad, mostly due to the Baltimore sucking a massive fat one at tier 9 and a lack of versatility from the absence of torpedoes. I'd recommend the USSR line if you're ok with being really fragile, or the IJN line if you're less ok with that.

Well, to be more precise. The USSR cruiser line is fairly fragile up to t9. However, the moskva holds its own distinction for being heavily armored for a cruiser. The lower tiers in general are more standoff-ish in play though while tier 6/7/8 can generally get in close before the enemy have all melted.

Colorado trip report: Bought it yesterday fresh and fitted it with mods. Didn't have enough free xp to skip anything. So with the exception of the mods everything else was stock until the last game we played when I had the B hull. Still did pretty well. I was initially really worried. I had some games that started off as complete and total snooze fests. Nobody was getting in anywhere close to one another everyone was afraid to engage. But that turned out to be the exception instead of the norm. Had some amazing and fun games out of the 9 I played especially once I was in a division with goons.

The German cruisers are some of the all-around most balanced cruisers in the game. You get good AP, great reload speed, and two racks of torps per side for brawling. The tradeoff is that you have light armor, subpar speed, and small health pools. They're great from t5 on with no real stinkers except for the t4 Karlsruhe (and maaaaybe the t8 Admiral Hipper)
