So what is the deal with blizzard? Whenever I gym with my lapras, blizzard has absolutely no immediate effect. Sometimes it will take as long as 15 seconds and 2 blizzards and then the enemy implodes..

Grinding it into candy is just the silliest thing though, because you could have used it to defend gyms, and even if it was useless now, it could get better with the next patch, or you could have traded it for something you didn't have, and at any rate, you basically traded 400 candies for one when you did that.

For the others who were able to go 142/142. How long did the last ten take? What was the worst one? I have 7 to go and only one of them looks like it will get done quickly. Hitmonlee & Lapras I just need to be in the right place at the right time. It's not like I will ever get a 10k egg again. Machoke should be done in a few days. Charmander will happen, just slowly. Grimer, Omanyte and Seel...who the gently caress knows. I've seen 5 total between the 3 and need 13 of each to evolve. I guess I could get lucky finding evolved versions.

(But I have a Marowak caught in the wild ) Also, I have cauight Dragonair and Dragonite in the wild but never seen a Dratini.

Does your area have a reddit/facebook/discord for pokemon? If so, ask about nearby nests. 3. Are you using as many incubators as you can? Every 2nd or 3rd day you should be able to get one from cashing in on gyms. Just make sure you never use a limited-use incubator on a 2k.

Dr Tran posted:Muk and Weezing seem to be the hardest. Neither Grimer or Koffing have consistent spawn points. There are actually 3 consistent koffing spawns within like 3 or 4 blocks of my apartment, but I've only seen one wild grimer. At level 30, I've never seen a dragonite or lapras, and have only seen one each of omanyte, kabuto, hitmonlee, lickitung, dratini, and Pikachu. I had also only seen one each of seel, slowbro and drowzee before visiting the Midwest for a week and getting a bunch of them. Of the 12 I have left, blastoise, charizard and raichu are just going to take a long time. Omastar and kabutops just seem impossible, and hitmonchan is just going to entail getting very lucky. There's one place that sometimes has geodudes and machops, but it'll mostly entail just a ton of grinding. I live in a pretty big city, but at this point I've pretty much stopped finding new pokemon, which kind of sucks. Doesn't really feel like there's much left to do at this point, unless I travel more. Hopefully gym battling becomes more of a thing, I still like walking around and exploring either way but it seems like that is kind of strictly worse, in terms of progression etc., than just walking between 5 lures.

I'm very curious how new generations are going to be added. Hopefully they just appear in the game one day. Worst case scenario you have to buy the Johto Pokedex Module for 500 funbucks or something.

There are much worse alternatives than that. Special Johto Incense, Johto specific pokeballs, Johto eggs that require a Johto incubator. No matter what they do, I'm sure there's going to be some revenue stream. You can could always continue to play for free if you stick to the basic 1st gen, but those Johto mons will always be on top of gyms taunting you.

I haven't heard of anyone being banned for those yet. I hope Niantic continues to let it slide since it's not helping us find Pokemon or moving our GPS around. It's so useful to see all of your Pokemon's stats in one screen than asking for individual appraisals. Not to mention those appraisals can be very misleading when you have really good IVs on one stat but have 0 on another. For instance on the infamously low or non-existent starter Pokemon attack IVs, you can get a Charmander that's 0/11/15 appraised and they'll tell you "It's best quality is its HP" and "Its stats are the best I've ever seen!" from the one 15 and tell you nothing about the lovely attack. Your only clue is "Your Charmander has room for improvement" but you won't know if it's the attack or defense that sucks. Anyway yeah I'm being biased because I use pgnexus and hope they don't come down on that. Or at the very least crack down on the website if they really hate it instead of banning people for using it.

So capture rates. Everything basically looks equal. I use great or ultra balls on squirtles, abras, machops, eevees, and most high level stuff(even pidgey, its still 4 candy). The stuff that flees from me is usually high level, looking at the data it seems like a fair deal but the 10% that flees is what you're raging at every day. Squirtle 18/20 90% Caterpie 66/71 92.9% Weedle 45/48 93.7% Pidgey 514/571 90% Rattata 508/583 87% Spearow 263/280 93.9% Zubat 246/277 88.8% Psyduck 64/66 96.9% Poliwag 53/64 92.2% Abra 30/38 78.9% Machop 35/36 97.2% Tentacool 21/25 84% Slowpoke 36/39 92.3% Seel 21/21 100% Shellder 59/64 92.2% Gastly 126/143 88.8% Drowzee 743/794 93.6% Krabby 117/124 94.3% Horsea 46/50 92% Goldeen 45/51 86.2% Staryu 65/66 98.5% Jynx 71/96 74% (Actually I ran away from most of these) Tauros 25/33 75.8% (Also ran from a few of these) Magikarp 113/116 97.4% Eevee 18/18 100% edit: Does anyone else feel like pokemon have a capture health bar, and throwing different balls/accuracy/curves takes a different amount off? I ask this because I never seem to catch on a first throw excellent, but the second nice miss will sometimes be enough to do it. I also have things commonly break out of the first throw third shake of an ultra ball, and almost always run away after it. Eyochigan fucked around with this message at 22:38 on Aug 27, 2016 |

Let me funnel a bunch of candy and stardust in there and change my moves, dammit.

I spent a month trying to get a solid defense pokemon because I'm not lucky enough to stumble upon Snorlax and Lapras spawns; so I work with what the game gives me. It's not fun in the slightest to have the game decide where your effort goes at random. I'm sure it's an idea that Niantic is tossing around, among many other things the playerbase is clamoring for, it's just frustrating that we're sort of wasting our time in the interim.

Drowzee seems super common everywhere else in the thread. I think I've seen two ever, but I did catch a random Hypno. Also, I wonder if that many people are GPS hacking, or people get them from eggs, or what, I've never seen a charmander/meleon/izard anywhere, but there are a lot stationed at gyms around town. I do get a shot at randomly spawning Blastoises from my apartment, though. Also, is one of the pokemon that tends towards having weak IV's when caught in the wild? I've caught tons and tons but never seen one with decent stats.

New theory about lures, apparently the position of where the lure was used may determine what spawns, by what biome they were standing in. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/4zux6x/spawns_from_lures_depends_on_activating_position/ I've seen results that seem to reflect this. There's a pokestop in the middle of a pavillion but the most common place for people to sit near it is around a fountain. I see magikarp all day at that one.

It's crazy how different locations can have different sets of Pokemon. In my area of PA it's almost all grass Pokemon, Exxecutes and Bulbasaurs are decently common, but you just don't see fire or electric. There is a Tauros nest near my work though, so I see them every once and a while. I'm on vacation (beach in Delaware), there are a ton of poke stops downtown that had lures on them. I caught: 20 each of Magnemites and Voltorbs Jynx Aerodactyl 2 Ponytas and a Rapidash (holy hell they are hard to hit with a throw) Rhyhorn 3-4 charmanders 2 Pikachus Omanyte And a bunch of other water Pokemon. Question: what is the best electric Pokemon? I still have a bit to go on getting enough candies to evolve some of my grass Pokemon, if I can get a solid electric one while I'm here to help at gym battles, that would be great. The loving Voltorb and Magnemites I evolved had awful 30 special attacks.

nothing quite like the hilarity/excitement of witnessing a stampede for a charizard, only to have it run away after it breaks out of one loving ultra ball. I've never even seen a charmander and the closest nest I know of is in NYC, so a good 4-5 hour drive. That stampede was loving hilarious though, especially seeing a lady pushing a stroller just straight up TAKE OFF stroller and all when the herd started running.
