Has he? That is a shame, I HATE that.

Do they keep the ads that came with the show originally or do they do that thing where they inject current ads at the time of download? Because who doesn't want to hear Stone Cold talk about Sherry's Berries?

Original ads, I believe, so you can track the evolution from Onnit.com to truecar.com.

In the past, I would have paid for the option to have Austin's and Jericho's podcast without commercials. But it seems that Podcast One has now given us the worst of both worlds.

I really don't want to look this up, so in 1993 had people become aware that Traci Lords had lied about her age? Please tell me this was before people knew :gonk:
Catching up on this thread and saw the Traci Lords/Readers' Pages discussion.

You can't really blame Dave at all for not knowing until someone told him. Remember: News was a lot different pre-internet boom. It's not like "Traci Lords is a former porn star whose porn career was almost entirely while she was secretly underage" was something that was deeply in the public consciousness. If you knew the name, maybe you knew that she was a B-movie actress who had transitioned from porn. It got coverage, but it wasn't necessarily the huge story that could blow up into being into if it happened now. Even if you read about it in the newspaper, it's not like it was something that had legs for seven years.

Incidentally, I did a Google News Archive search for one of the contemporary stories, and the Traci Lords FBI bust is officially 30 years old: https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1345&dat=19860801&id=5FhYAAAAIBAJ&sjid=1vkDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5565,51633

This is purely from my own perspective, but even though I was young I remember in the 80s just knowing the basic gist of the Traci Lords story without even really knowing how, and I'm not even American. I think it just permeated pop culture even to that extent.

To be equally fair, I often conflate a lot of 1980s stories together regardless of year, so maybe it was like 88 or 89 and I just think I remember hearing it earlier.

I forgot to post this on Super China Buffet Day, but at the end of the Brazillian steakhouse lunch, Bryan made sure everybody in the room had his address, and was asking for numbers to text it to all of us. Lance was holding the kid, and did throughout a lot of the lunch and pay-per-view, and as Bryan made his way down to where I was at the table, I made a joke about how tired he must be after having a newborn, and he deadpanned me:

"It's not the kid keeping me up. It's Dave."

We already have an example of Billy running a wrestling promotion and the lack of profile, awareness, or anything else his celebrity status imparted. All he did was provide insane booking ideas, like making his special needs brother a heel manager.

Ryback really sounds like slightly dumber version of Andrew WK.

It was funny to hear that Vince gave him the same type of line he'd give to a guy like Hardcore Holly (oh yeah, there's a big push in your future)

Also it was hilarious how Vince told him he was going to 'squash that little twerp [aj stytes]' at Wrestlemania 32.

From WO/F4W:

quote:

Taylor Rotunda (Bo Dallas) was arrested on Friday at DFW Airport. Rotunda was charged with public intoxication and drunkenness at 7:15 p.m. local time. Officers came after he was taken off the connecting plane that a number of WWE stars were on, headed to Mexico for the two-day tour.

Rotunda didn't fly to Mexico for the first or second show. Police were called after Rotunda was singing a song from the Lion King and allegedly said some expletives to crew members and was kicked off the flight. Airport police found him six gates away and the arrest report said he smelled of alcohol and admitted he had been drinking a little as well as slurring his words.

Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel were scheduled to face the Usos on both nights of the tour, but instead Axel worked singles matches on it. WWE has not made any statement about the incident.

I love stories from the days when wrestling was corrupt enough that'd you'd just send out a different guy under a mask saying it was someone else.

But also, honest enough that you'd get in trouble for doing it.

Yeah that was a great story, but the entire time I kept wondering why they didn't just make it a heel storyline once people figured out what had gone on.

This is in reference to a great Mr. Fuji story on Wrestling Observer Radio about the time he main evented a show against Pat Patterson.... only it wasn't actually Mr. Fuji.
