How are people so stupid to think that loving Mexico is actually going to pay for Trump's god drat wall?

Let's have noted super smart puppetmaster and hynpotist master Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, explain!

quote:

We have around 11 million citizens of Mexico living in the United States illegally. Suppose we make them the following offer:

1. Register at the nearest Post Office. Just fill out some forms. For fun, we can pass a law to make every Post Office a temporary Mexican embassy, so any Mexican national who enters from American soil is literally self-deporting. Embassies are considered sovereign territory, so it all makes sense.

2. Tax illegal immigrants $100 per year for ten years. This is their penalty for breaking American law, and it gives them the right to stay and try for citizenship after ten years.

That’s a billion dollars per year in tax revenue, coming from Mexican citizens. If we use that money to help pay for the wall, that’s a lot like “making Mexico pay for the wall.”

Secondly, we could work with Mexico to declare the zone around the wall – on both sides – special economic zones that are free from some (but not all) onerous government regulations and taxes (for a few years). Then turn the wall project into a jobs program, and eventually into an enormous tourist destination. If any unemployed young people want to work on the wall, we’ll ship them there, put them up in employee dorms, teach them Spanish, teach them a construction trade, and more.

This part is pretty hilarious.

quote:

I explained to some folks this morning my idea of taxing illegal immigrants to pay for the wall. I learned that some people really, really want illegal immigrants punished for breaking the law. But it won’t be hard to talk Americans into letting illegal immigrants pay for border security and stay. It’s hard to hate someone who is helping you pay your bills.

He seriously doesn't understand the assholes calling for the wall are racists who don't want Mexicans in the US, whether they're paying taxes or not.

Garnishing money transfers doesn't sit well with me if anything just because it seems like it's punishing the wrong people. Western Union, Moneygram, etc. make loving bank off those money transfers. Scott Adams being hilariously wrong about almost everything is pretty well-documented. Such as this example:

quote:

But Clinton just insulted 40% of American voters by calling them racists. Clinton literally – and publicly – turned on her own citizens.

Trump, by contrast, has attacked only professionals who are in the cage fight against him, including politicians on both sides, and the media.

Apparently Mexican immigrants and Muslims are "professionals" according to Scott Adams.

Embassies also aren't foreign soil! This is a popular misconception. There are rules about what you can and can't do in an embassy you are hosting, but a Mexican walking into the Mexican embassy isn't suddenly magically back in Mexico. When was the last time you saw border crossings at the embassy gate?

Most of the right wing knows our agricultural sector would, if not collapse, then at least take a massive downturn if we actually prosecuted everyone who hired illegal immigrants. Even most legal Hispanic immigrants and natives won't take those jobs, and certainly no white people, and these companies sure as hell aren't going to improve conditions and pay and working hours and all that to the point of making the jobs attractive to people who have some choice. In many cases it's slavery in all but name, and it's happening right under our noses.

Yup. Illegal immigrants are the new slave class in the US and, despite how much they love to use them as boogeymen, higher up conservatives know it. The real reason they oppose any attempt at immigration reform, besides the ever-useful bigotry, is that them becoming citizens removes their ability to hold deportation over their heads to keep them in horrible jobs that nobody else would ever do. So the Republicans were carefully trying to keep their base against them, but ensure that they didn't have to actually do anything about the situation until Trump came in and, as with most things, took their positions to their logical, horrible endpoint with his rhetoric.
