Man, when I got promoted to Cpl it took almost 6 months to get my pay raise, but when I did I got 6 months of back pay which was around 6 grand. 22 year old me then spent it all on booze, strippers and a downpayment on a truck I couldn't afford. I think this is like dumbass young NCM 101, so I don't feel bad about it. I got out the army without getting some chick from Geary, NB pregnant so I think I came out on top.

We'll see about all that. I wouldn't mind a pay raise, even prices at CANEX have slowly risen.

Could be worse, the Americans have predatory lenders for car loans right outside the base gates, so SPC Bloggins can get that base model RAM/"Camero"/Mustang/10 year old STi/Harley for *only* 25% APR!

You live in a wasteland so desolate it would make Mad Max give up 2. You need a bus pass for the new month and don't want to wait in the lineup at the Rideau Centre 3. You're on a lovely offbrand electronic scavenger hunt sponsored by a guy whose sizeable inheritance has a Brewster's Millions clause

Naw bruh I do all my PT outside on the playground without a shirt to make the obese logisticians jelly and give them a reason to gently caress up my spec pay *flexes abs* e. haven't really used the canex for anything other than gas/letter stamps since I stopped being a dumbass who bought dumb tactical poo poo like cadpat wallets or zippos. I never understood cadpat wallets and phone cases. If I drop that poo poo, I want to find it!

As if you'd find it even with a bright colouring in the middle of a long grass field trampled by vehicles and a hundred people.

But if nobody sells CADPAT wallets and phone cases, how will I know who's a boot in the bar?

I usually look for the High and Tight and dog tags worn over shirt, but without the siren song of the Velcro opening of a CADPAT wallet to complete the trifecta I feel lost

Despite getting a few other tattoos I somehow made it my whole 7-year career without getting anything army-related. Sorta wish I got my wings done back then and I would like something, I just can't think of anything that's not horribly tacky.

Mine isn't terrible, people unironically seem to like it. Not bad for being picked off a wall in a lovely parlour. A guy in my former unit (he went regs as a weapons tech I think) had a maple leaf with crossed c7s

Honestly, the first time I saw the leaf-barcode tattoo I thought it was cool. Yeah lots of guys still have them, some look better than others but it's not the horriblest idea for a military-themed tattoo by a very long shot.

Getting the Sapper bomb on your right hand is a pretty common tradition, at least at 1 CER. I would have gotten a bomb but not on my hand, and I actually think it's a pretty badass tradition. Basically you can only get one if a SNCO takes you to get one, normally with your section. Some guys break that tradition and just go to a tattoo parlour but those guys are loving idiots. Those sapper tattoos are legit. I've seen Patricias with their cap badge done as well. Nothing as badass as "gently caress YOU" tattooed down the blade of the saluting hand though.

Tattoochat reminds me of the old RSM, one of those dudes that had to go on terminal leave 2 years before retirement because he had so much PTO saved up. No visible tattoos up to the rolled up sleeves, but COMPLETELY tatted underneath. I mean completely.

I've seen artillery tattoos with a linstock and matchcord running in a braid down the arm. I wanted to get NATO shell markings for HE 105 and 155, one on each arm. Glad I thought better of it.

Generally, it seems limited to COLA and may be backdated (now we're dreaming). I can't find any external reference to this, but if I can figure out the search terms on that wonderful engine it may be useful, as I have heard so many personal theories on how things happen; it feels like nearly all admin decisions are based on how someone maybe remembers how another told them what the rules felt like. To follow up on this, the question/answer can be found on the defense team page, under the May archive of iAsk. Two years of backdating is expected if the increase is approved.

Not sure if right place to ask but Close friend looking to join Direct-Entry into Officer for the CAF. He already has a 4 year degree so he is eligible and the recruiter seem interested in him. I'm sorta on the fence about him doing this mostly because i think it relates to him having difficulty securing a stable work since he graduated a few years back. Anyone have experience in doing the Direct entry to officer and can share some insight about it? Just worried he might be making a mistake or not.
