We don't post Rush Limbaugh monologues and laugh at them so why do the same with Mushnik, he is who he is and isn't pretending to be anything else

The argument that Bill Gates giving a million dollars is like me giving a dollar to a homeless man is so loving stupid I don't know where to begin. The only thing the two have in common is the % of earnings donated, but if you ignore that meaningless comparison, its not hard to understand that $1m is going to do a whole hell of a lot more good than the single dollar I give to a homeless person.

Ehud posted:hobo: spare some change? it sure would help me I'm not sure where I said it was a bad thing to donate change or a few bucks to the homeless. I just said comparing that to a million dollar donation from Gates seems silly. My whole point was it seems like the same people who were bitching that Kap wasn't doing anything like donating money are now the same people saying $1m isn't enough or its for publicity.

Those are different I acknowledged the value to the giver but argue that the value to the giver only matters in the context of being able to say "this person is more charitable as a proportion of their income" which is great, but honestly doesn't mean much. I feel like discounting the value to the receiver is ignoring the most important part.

By giving to private charities, Kap delays the transition from late stage capitalism to true communism where the state cares for all. Encouraging alternative means than the state's largess in effect decreases the power of the average person and empowers a society governed by corporations as opposed to the public. He's scum.
