I know some do but it's usually an insignificant amount compared to sponsors and FIFA/UEFA. Except when the government builds them a new stadium and things like that. A few years ago when Finland were looking for a new manager they had to legally put out a public ad as they receive government funding.

And, of course, you're right about countries like Russia. The more authoritative a country is, the more they fund elite sports as propaganda.

1) You mean authoritarian, not authoritative, and 2) The Russian FA doesn't get sufficient money from the state to function, the last head of the FA was fired largely because he did gently caress all to get sponsorship deals and the FA was literally falling apart as a result.

The insignificant amounts you mention are what I had in mind.

E: also, I feel like this belongs in the football finances thread now

I've got a pocket full of cheese🧀, and a garden full of trees🌴.

I know the Irish team are sponsored by 3, and if you buy a replica jersey it has the 3 logo on it., but I don't know of any other company or country that sells advertising on it's jerseys/replica jerseys.

Of course any country's FA is always happy to accept money and trot out the players for a "X Corporation supports our boys" campaign.

Denmark has had sponsors loads of times. E.g. DONG, an oil and natural gas company and Arla, a national dairy co-op. For a while in the mid - late 90's it was "Cowey ". A product consisting of milk and fruit juice.

New goalkeeper kit as well.

Did they really pick a font, with no loving Ø in it? :lol

It's a decent idea and all, but overall I don't like the shirt. When I see Holger Danske all I think about, is the neo nazis that use him.

The white away shirt looks nice though.
