well a whale lives in the ocean so that makes sense... But if I was trying to go out of my way to make pokemon as close to realistic as possible and got to the bulbasaurs I would probably pick, like, a big toad or something? Or some other, more tropical, reptile that would match it's environment better.

The games don't really have to make much sense, they can do what they want, I don't really care.

Isn't the plant parasitic? I mean trying to actually explain pokemon biology is really dumb, but some kind of weird parasite flower growing in the desert because it can't do poo poo in the ground doesn't seem that out of place in a fictional setting.

Nah. The Mushroom on Paras and Parasect is parasitic, and in fact, is based off of cordyceps, influencing the hosts's behaviour. The Plant on a bulbasaur is symbiotic.

Holy poo poo, now THIS is the Pokemon reboot I want. Imagine going toe-to-toe with an Onyx or Steelix which burrows in and out of the ground, or fighting a giant Kabutops to make some sick Kabutops-claw switch weapons. Meowth followers which fight alongside of you. A hunter's horn that's literally just a Jigglypuff on a stick. :allears:

If only they could explain away the mechanics so it's Pokemon fainting and being "transported to your PC" instead of "loving dead"

Yeah, I don't want to murder these hyper realistic Pokemon with swords. I want to be friends with them and give them snacks, and then help them murder other lesser Pokemon with them together so that we may both grow stronger.

Yeah really it's a full-on toilet-bot. You could just as easily describe it as a "toilet with elbows" or "toilet with a head". No wonder that guy couldn't find it Googling knee toilet.

Yeah, this is part of what I love about the games, especially since I've grown up.

In heart gold your lead poke followed you around outside of its ball, like pikachu did in yellow. I'd transferred my team from...I think it was Pearl, so I spent a large portion of the game with a palkia as my main.

So I'm being followed around by a sixteen foot tall dragon believed to have created the space-time continuum, yet random children still challenge me to battles with their dumbshit bidoof.

Imagine that thing cramming itself through normal, human-sized doors. Imagine being a clerk in a pokemart and having that loom over your counter. The Pokemon world is insane.

Edit: god, I just realized that Pear came out in 2006. That palkia has been transferred all the way to omega Ruby. I've had and gone on adventures with that imaginary dragon for a decade. He's level 98 now. :allears:
