No it's not. It's terrible. Anything that isnt straight out legalisation is terrible. No one should be arrested for paying for sex, no one should be ostracised for sex. I strongly object to the Swedish model as it is proven to be not as good or as safe as a properly legalised and regulated sex industry. The simple fact is that where prositiution is legal, sex trafficing is drat near zero, lower than Sweden can hope for. Women are safer and control the transaction. It is a good deal healtier as STD's are much less likely to be passed on, the brotels are better able to enforce safe sex. Workers are able to pay tax and are much less likely to be controlled by pimps. No one is clogging jails or courts for prostitution, police can go deal with real crimes. There is much lower levels of organised crime and the associated problems. There is simply no real downside to a legalised and regulated sex industry. Instances of rape and assaults are much lower too. Legalise and regulate is ALWAYS the answer, exactly like Portugal proved with any and all drugs and any country that legalised and regulated prositution, like NSW.

I strongly object to the Swedish model as it is proven to be not as good or as safe as a properly legalised and regulated sex industry. It is incorrect that legal prostitution causes a near zero incidence of sex trafficking. Nevada has high rates, especially of child prostitution, Australia also has problems despite the most populous areas of the country having legalized and regulated prostitution. I will concede two things about the Swedish model: First, it was written and implemented before the internet age and there has been increased use of the internet for the trading of sexual services, according to a variety of sources. Second, that the difficulty in quantifying data about the sex trade in Sweden results in competing studies which criticize one another and make the issue that much more difficult to figure out. The fact remains however, that Sweden has one of the lowest rates of human trafficking in the world. Australia does as well, but where there is a market for sexual services, trafficking will exist, and one of the successes of the Swedish model is that fewer men are buying sexual services. While I agree that no one should be ostracized for sex, the sex trade is directly connected to human trafficking, and if eliminating trafficking is the goal, then eliminating the market must be part of the plan. While women from wealthier backgrounds often have the agency to operate as sex workers on their own, the number of vulnerable and exploited persons is growing worldwide, and they are often imported to places that have a legalized model. If all sex workers could operate as free agents in a legalized model I'd be all for it but that has not been convincingly shown to be the case. Even the Netherlands is a common destination and source of trafficking victims.

Oh god, are we really having a prostitution discussion in AI? My contacts with prostitution have been limited to defending prostitutes from criminal charges as a public defender. I would say that somethong like 80% of street prostitutes and maybe 30% of internet prostitues had what could fairly be described as pimps, even if the client described them as drivers, boyfriends, or so on. The way we deal with prostitution in america doesn't work. Prosecutors and police pay lip service to "OMG trafficing!" but when brought up in a non-juvinile situation it is always treated as some excuse to try to get out of a conviction. Even when the prosecutors believe them and try the pimp, they treat thise victims like the "whores" they believe them to be. I had a client. First time prostitution charge, from another, far away state. Clearly trafficed. Upon her arrest her parents took her home and put her in rehab. The DA refused to do anything with the charges and attempted to compel her to come to court from thousands of miles (not needed in a misdemeanor). The swedish model has its own issues. It still forces the practice underground and, as any enforcement will be targeted against johns, meaning less likelihood of finding trafficed persons. It means that no john who has questions about a person will ever contact police. A licensed type system seems like it would solve more problems, but it has its own issues.

It's a job selling a skill, same as a cook, or a mechanic, or a plumber. The issue isn't people getting paid to gently caress, it's people getting forced to gently caress for money. Look at the porn industry for comparison. Whole bunch of people 110% getting paid to gently caress, however with stringent record-keeping regarding age of consent and industry-wide testing standards to keep it from turning into an AIDSpocalypse. It isn't perfect, people still get exploited because there's absolutely a social stigma involved and that creates leverage, but it's better than a free-for-all and trying to prosecute victims of trafficking.

In other, less sad people paying to gently caress other sad people news, I found a solution to my in-wall speaker grille painting problem. I had Sherwin Williams mix up a sample of the color I'm using for my wall, but using half the pigment. It ended up the same tone, but lighter (obviously). Then I took an old spray bottle that had a wide, dispersed spray pattern, added paint and diluted it about 50/50 with water and sprayed away. The perforated holes in the grilles immediately closed up, leaving the grilles looking like a blotchy mess. After a moment to think , I got the air spraying thing for the compressor and set the compressor at ~25psi. I sprayed the grilles and kept moving/spraying until the holes stopped closing up. loving worked great. I could have gone even lighter, the grilles don't entirely blend in, but it's definitely viable. Edit: Pic: The blotch is something on my lens. There's a solatube above, and it's sunny today, so at that angle it looks shiny, but it's standard satin finish. You can see that the grille looks close to the surrounding color, but it's really significantly lighter. Proof of concept, I'm happy. meatpimp fucked around with this message at 19:49 on Sep 6, 2016 |

A tighter statewide control would certainly improve things. Tomarse posted:Just started off my first beer kit Congrats! What kind of kit? Brewing is awesome.
