A young guy at work just bought a Holden Colorado and the first thing he has ordered is replacement decals for the Colorado to make it a 'COOLorado". My attempts to stop him aren't working. Stay tuned for the terrible job he does of the letter placement! In Alberta to get a rebuilt title on a salvage car, you have to document the whole repair process and take it in for an extremly stringent inspection. He hacked off the whole front crash structure and replaced it with scrap steel, and doesn't plan on replacing the airbags.

Which he had to backpedal when realizing if he had only called Lotus' official parts department he could get one. Heck I'm sure if he called any big chain of windscreen replacement companies he could find one that had an account.

My guess is someone thought they were being clever and aligned the letters on a piece of tape, put the glue on, then stuck it to the car. Except they forgot they should have reversed the letters when putting it on the tape. I would have thought the chrome would be only on one side as well, making the process obvious, but never having done lettering like that my assumptions could be wrong.

4s and Xs are both fairly symmetrical in ways you wouldn't think of normally. Those are just turned 90 degrees clockwise.

I still dig MCM, but I'm less interested in the show the more they get professionals working on their cars. I don't like that a lot of the steps are now "and now get a custom made ECU made by an engineer". I'm perfectly fine when Moog drills an ugly wing onto his car.

That is definitely something that they take for granted, getting pro-grade ECUs at what I'm sure is a heavy discount and having their friends tune the drat things. Their whole "How to Turbo" series was awesome until they got to the ECU bit and at that point I was 100% positive I couldn't afford the project.

What does a megasquirt cost? You can get an AEM EMS-4 for like $800, infinity and haltech sport ecus start at not much more than 1k. But mostly turbocharging a car from scratch and expecting it to run well is not cheap- way easier to start with something already turbo'd that also has a stock ecu that can be tuned/reflashed. A few weeks ago I got told about a guy who wanted to twin turbo his outback and was looking for some help. I just said no and laughed and said tell your friend to sell it and buy a turbo outback.

I'm assuming Moog's music royalties have something to do with that. About a year ago the music begun to be shoehorned into every single gap that it could be, it feels like Marty couldn't give a gently caress about the second rate chart music Moog puts out but Moog insists because $$$

Listening to the commentary for the Turbo Challenge, it didn't seem like there was any animosity between them. Even for the bumpers, they seem like they're having a good time just hanging out, but when they're working on important mechanical stuff, Moog's... excitability, let's call it, looks like it piss Marty off like no tomorrow. Remember his stupid Honda? Turbo Yoda had to make rules to shut him up while they were actually trying to get stuff done. As for the 180SX, I think Marty was done with that car years ago, I don't even remember him liking it when it was running properly. Getting it back in such horrible condition after doing so much work on it seemed to sour his opinion of it even more. You can clearly see it when they were trying to work on the diff, he was so loving mad at that car, even though it was in a similar condition as 2SEXY was in the beginning

I suspect he's probably also thinking viewership figures - "We did this exact thing before and our electric Charade pulled higher viewership". e: if someone asked me to break open a galled up diff and take a shower in gear oil hasn't been changed in who-knows-how-long I'd probably be slightly lovely too, even if I was wildly enthusiastic about the car. Remember his stupid Honda? Turbo Yoda had to make rules to shut him up while they were actually trying to get stuff done. This seems like a pretty accurate read. Marty is generally fine working on 2sexy or Moog's other cars, but it seems like as soon as the 180 drove in the garage he was over it. He genuinely doesn't like that car, and I think that shows. I think it's compounded by how much Moog loves it, and it kind of torques Marty the wrong way the whole time. I have to say, some of my favorite episodes to watch have been in depth builds, especially Supergramps. The one off "here's how to plumb an intercooler" episodes don't really do it as much for me anymore. Most people watching aren't actually watching for instructions, they're watching because it's one of the more entertaining build shows out these days.
