I believe I have found an error in that comic, as even though they are merely inhaling smoke from a bottle, where it would not get in their eyes, their conjunctivitis appears to begin flaring up, even before Megg's smoking in the car wash has a change to actually irritate their conjunctiva.

Found this while clearing out some boxes. I made this orthodox-style religious icon as fan art for "pictures for sad children" a few years ago, and I wanted to send it to the creator of said comic, but then he went totally nuts and disappeared from the internet.

It was a murder suicide, the dog suffered from depression and abuse for years and finally saw an opportunity. You can see the anger in the dogs eyes in the first panel.
