I've tried to like tempeh many times and I've finally come to the conclusion that tempeh is loving disgusting and people shouldn't eat it. I love some gross vegetarian/vegan food abominations but that poo poo just tastes weird.

Meet tororo, or grated mountain yam: It's essentially snot in a bowl, a description that came quickly and naturally the first time I encountered it. Many years later, I was pleased when my Japanese sister said she wasn't too fond of tororo, citing its texture, and her husband said, "Yeah: it's like snot in a bowl." Oh, but you can add a raw egg! Maybe that'll help!

I love okra. Its probably how it gets served where I grew up though. Either in yong tau foo where its stuffed with fish paste: or indian style, stuffed with spices and fried:

I know it's not really fair to do so considering who prepared it, but I'm pretty set on never trying okra again after having it for the first time at a golden corral (battered+fried). I don't mind some strongly flavored vegetables like brussel sprouts but the okra I had was just foul.

Eating okra for the first time as an adult is pretty rough. I've had it a few times and I still don't know if I like it or hate it. I eat a piece, make a face that seems to indicate that I hate it, but then take another piece. Maybe it's like Moxie (soda) and the second bite (sip) is just to kill the aftertaste from the first, and so on. It's insidious!GOTTA STAY FAI posted:Jarred alfredo is a ten-year-old boy walking to the liquor store at 8:00AM on a Tuesday because Mommy is too "sick" to buy her own “medicine”

Before I learned basic cooking I used to love those packets with noodles and alfredo sauce powder, just cook in some milk or something. The sad thing is making it is dead easy, its just cooked noodles with butter and grated Parmesan cheese. For anti-food porn don't understand how mystery meat(spam, canned chicken, roast beef, etc) is always more expensive/pound than the real thing. I like a can of spam every once in a while, but it is at least 3$ a tin around here and I could get 2 pork shoulder "steaks" for the same price. I'd also end up with some bones to toss in the next pot of beans. I almost always prefer to get fresh or frozen meat now instead of the canned stuff, because there is always some kind of smell to it that never really cooks off. And then a few hours later, your pee starts to stink of that same smell. *edit* meat is spelled m e a t. FetusSlapper has a new favorite as of 18:21 on Sep 9, 2016 |

Trent posted:OK, this is true. I was referring to red sauce, but I was admittedly unclear. Jarred alfredo is universally loathsome, which is extra stupid since unlike red sauce it doesn't take forever to just make it yourself. I mean, it takes longer than splooshing some jarred into a pot, setting the heat to 4 and stirring. Sometimes it's just a tradeoff between self-loathing and your time, y'know? once a buddy of mine made a passable pretend rose sauce by mixing together jarred alfredo and jarred tomato sauces. This was before I really knew better

I didn't know the main stumbling block of okra was taste, tastes like any other starchy green to me. You usually hear people freaking out about its internal structure. Whats the phobia called again where you are scared of voids because they look like eyeballs or egg sacks or whatever that freaks everyone out about lotus seed pods? Okra's like that if you medallion it: Or else in its solo preparations, if you cook it too long it just starts oozing glue. That's generally considered a good thing in stews, but jizzing paste into your mouth is less than ideal when eating it as its own thing. Jarred red sauce isn't an abomination or anything but it costs like $5 for the equivalent of 50 cents of canned tomatoes. Canned tomatoes do all the heavy lifting of stewing tomatoes, and they are usually better ripeness and cultivars than the produce department trash tomatoes. You can whip together a red sauce in the time it takes to boil a pot of tomatoes that way. e. The only Moxie I had was a couple cans from a 12pack we bought when we were vacationing in NH, is it really universally disliked? It was fine to me, not in my top favorite sodas but just tasted like what it is, caffeinated root beer Then again I like the flavor of most sodas that aren't diet, I don't remember the last time I disliked a soda that wasn't just a weird specialty flavor
