Tough choice. I really liked a lot that I never got the time or opportunity to actually play through. I'll just pick from those I actually finished that aren't remakes, so I'll go with Super Mario 3D World.

I know some people didn't like xcx's story or characters but I didn't mind them. I loved exploring and I loved micromanaging augments and everything. I also love the score. Whether or not Nintendo gets the next Xeno game will make a huge difference on whether or not I get the NX. That and if they keep doing stuff with Atlus' IPs if it turns out to be a replacement for the 3ds as well. Edit: i only just got tropical freeze so that may make a top spot as well.

Mario 3D World and Wonderful 101 coming out the same year was the best time to be a VIDEOGAMESMAN. Then Splatoon and Mario Maker ALSO coming out in their own same year was equally good. Basically what i'm saying is the WiiU had a buncha good games and I still have to get around to playing Star Fox and #FE.

To answer my own question, I can't remember the last time a game commanded my time and attention like Splatoon did. Even as I was buying new games and working my way through the Wii titles I missed, Splatoon would be what I'd put aside an hour or two for. It's such a wonderful merger of themes and mechanics, and it's undeniably Nintendo while not relying on any of their previous franchises. I love Splatoon.

If you love real super score attach games it makes sense. There's this one dude on YouTube who has put in hundreds of hours and his scores are insane, like three times higher than I would find plausible. Myself, I really enjoyed it but only played till I beat all levels and don't really feel any need to go back to it.
