There were a bunch of good Megumin shirts at one point. Phone straps and badges. Also an umbrella :v:

There is also a pretty rad looking Kazuma STEAL shirt with 8-bit Megumin on the back and the message "What! Megumin's panties are in your hand!"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gods-Blessing-on-This-Wonderful-World-STEAL-T-shirt-White-S-size-Pre-Order-AG23-/322136924775

If this wasn't $50, wasn't like 12 sizes too small for my fat rear end, and just showed dejected Megumin and the Japanese text on the back rather than the picture of the obtained item (Why are we spoiling this?) I might have been willing to wear it.

Of course, with my luck I'd immediately run across someone who read Japanese, so it's probably for the best.

Yeah the front image is great but lovingly printed 16-bit panties are a bit much.

Also fun fact, that last "te ni ireta" bit doesn't literally mean "HER PANTIES ARE IN YOUR HAND," that just means "obtained." So, ever, ever so slightly less weird. Though I guess it was literal in the show.

This was the spoiler reason. :v: It is a rad shirt otherwise.

Also, yeah, obtained makes more sense.

Cool and good.

Now where is my Megumin nendo? The Aqua one is already out with Nature's Blessing attachment.

It's not out yet, actually. GSC's probably waiting to see how it does before committing to the others or not.

And forget Megumin, I just want one of Kazuma. Aqua without Kazuma is just sad.

Was there an unaired episode? Because I found an unaired episode where Kazuma gets a magical choker stuck on his neck that's going to strangle him to death and he uses it as an excuse to sexually harass everyone but Aqua

OVA introduces that extra character from the show's OP who seems to be a very fun addition and who interacts with Megumin in amusing ways. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of her come S2.

Yes-if you search for it at either of the two sites where you can frequently find legal downloads of unlicensed anime shows, you'll find it subtitled by a guy whose moniker is reminiscent of "roman death".

Rewatching this again and noticed when they are calling for Kazuma he always responds with "I'm Kazuma" like it's a stranger doing a role call and I can't not giggle every time this happens.

The cast is the primary reason why the show is so entertaining. The material is pretty bog standard comedy light novel stuff but the cast knocks it out of the park.

I think the material is pretty unique honestly, the setup is bog-standard reincarnation LN but everyone involved are useless idiots so everyone just fucks around at all times.

Nah, the LNs are already very, very good as is.

Konosuba is one of the exceedingly few LNs I've read that have realized it is okay to assume the reader can pay attention and not constantly explain every single joke.

I haven't read ahead in the LNs and am only basing this opinion on what has aired in the show, for clarification. The show's material is pretty normal anime comedy stuff like panty-based lechery and broke-brained idiots bouncing off each other. It's just pulled off amazingly well and I love it to death because of it.

Personally I'd say the story really starts cracking around volume 5, when all of the characters have been fully established so the author just has fun writing sillier and sillier scenarios.

The next season will likely cover volumes 3 and 4, which are respectively the start of Darkness being an actual character (they actually moved the reveal of her true identity to the end of volume 2 because otherwise she'd have nothing at all) and our first introduction to Aqua's wonderful, wonderful cult.

I hope we at least get a season 3 to cover volumes 5 and 6 because those are wonderful.

EDIT: Though chances are Megumin's spinoff will get animated first, and that'd suck because it turns out cutting out 75% of the main cast really drags things down!

I read one chapter of the school life spinoff and then my hand, without really any need to ask my brain, skipped every other one that came up.

Is Megumin supposed to also be from the real world?
I know they said her name is weird in the show, but as someone who doesn't speak Japanese I had no idea on what way it's supposed to be weird.

If I had to guess, it's possibly because "Megumin" sounds like a nickname, a la "Sacchin" for "Satsuki" or "Micchan" for "Minami".

I mean, it's not about what the joke is at the core, it's about whether they pull it off in a fairly unique way.

In this case they totally do

Spoilers from volume 5 if you really care why the Crimson Magic Clan clan has weird names: They were genetically modified by one of Aquas "heroes" she sent into the world whose power was probably being a super inventor. Its the same guy who invented the walking fortress at the end of the season too. The clan was chuuni even before being modified by the inventor so they asked him to give them names to celebrate their new powers. The inventor really couldnt give a poo poo so he just named them whatever came first to mind which leads to them getting dumb names. Basically they arent japanese, their clan just kept dumb names from a japanse nerd.
