I bought an old 2008 dell blade sever for 30 quid to gently caress around with but I ended up never using it because it was so loving loud. Starting up it sounded like a loving jet engine and even just on low fan settings I need ear plugs to be able to sleep in the same room as the drat thing. I ended up just abandoning it to charity because the thing was a huge albatross round my neck, unusually loud, really loving heavy to move around and to boot it sucked crazy amounts of power which wasn't sustainable when I had to start paying for it. vodkat fucked around with this message at 23:56 on Sep 13, 2016 |

Student housing, so I only had the one room but at least I wasn't paying for power. I didn't really have a use for it but just saw how cheap it was on eBay and much to my own surprise won it with free shipping. At the time I was doing some data mining project, so I thought I might use it for that, but I was so impractical I ended up never really using it. The most I got out of it was some doing some machine learning for the markov bot thread but on cpus it still took about 6 hours so I just gave up after a few tries.
