I think I actually saw a quote from earlier today that said it would apply to same sex couples (which is insane coming from the GOP, but hey, you know). Let me see if I can find it. EDIT: can't find it immediately; assume it was a fever dream until I prove otherwise Double Edit: My mistake, I was thinking of the useless childcare tax deduction policy that does nothing for people who actually need it. Plenty of sites seek out the Drudge hit because his users are crazy loyal and will descend on your site en masse. It's a really stupid approach though since they'll never come back unless drudge links again, they come in in such a great horde that you can't serve direct sold ads in any meaningful capacity (advertisers don't like it when campaigns fail to serve evenly), and they poo poo up your site with gross comments. But it doesn't keep people from seeing pv numbers go up and thinking it's good. I've never seen a story scuttled because of drudge stuff, but I've absolutely seen editors write drudge bait in order to hit arbitrary pv goals.

It's basically full of people whose job involves following politicians, who think writing up what they said along with a counter-statement from the other party entitles them to the same level of respect as people dodging bombs in war zones or spending months digging through documents to get to the truth.

Today we had the local state primary here in NH. I'm watching the returns now and it's real close between Chris Sununu and Frank Edelblut for the Republican nomination for governor. About 1000 vote difference. Sitting Republican Congressman Frank Guinta is up only by 400 votes. Kelly Ayotte crushed her primary challenger. 16% turn out for my town. 1 candidate for state rep missed a general election slot by 5 votes. Your vote does matter!
