A Fancy 400 lbs posted:I just realized something. Trump's plan only allows the mother to take parental leave, right? What happens when two gay men adopt a baby? What happens if the mother dies in childbirth? Even if you ignore that sometimes the father wants to be the one to stay home, mandating that it has to be the mother is a stupid loving idea. A Republican policy that punishes people who don't follow gender norms? Why I never!

I think I actually saw a quote from earlier today that said it would apply to same sex couples (which is insane coming from the GOP, but hey, you know). Let me see if I can find it. EDIT: can't find it immediately; assume it was a fever dream until I prove otherwise Double Edit: My mistake, I was thinking of the useless childcare tax deduction policy that does nothing for people who actually need it. That one applies to gay couples. HannibalBarca fucked around with this message at 03:16 on Sep 14, 2016 |

If it doesn't come to me via the internet and news media screaming it at me then it's nothing, and knowing Trump's anti-reality field even if it makes it big it'll probably still amount to nothing. This is the election where one side being a literal nazi is a footnote.

Plenty of sites seek out the Drudge hit because his users are crazy loyal and will descend on your site en masse. It's a really stupid approach though since they'll never come back unless drudge links again, they come in in such a great horde that you can't serve direct sold ads in any meaningful capacity (advertisers don't like it when campaigns fail to serve evenly), and they poo poo up your site with gross comments. But it doesn't keep people from seeing pv numbers go up and thinking it's good. I've never seen a story scuttled because of drudge stuff, but I've absolutely seen editors write drudge bait in order to hit arbitrary pv goals.

It's basically full of people whose job involves following politicians, who think writing up what they said along with a counter-statement from the other party entitles them to the same level of respect as people dodging bombs in war zones or spending months digging through documents to get to the truth.

Hillary will recover and be just fine in 2 days but in 20 years conservatives will be telling their grandkids about how in 2016 the democratic candidate almost died and there were replacement candidates being vetted well into October.

This badass old lady is onto something. Whenever Trump has been attacked on his Putin-worship it has always been framed as 'can you believe Trump likes this phony strongman dictator who suppresses gay rights and kills journalists!?' as though they are bad things to this crowd. But the thought of actually having to learn Russian, while an utterly ridiculous and vacuous threat, would actually get under their skin especially after years of them spouting 'hope you like speaking muslim' bullshit. legstump fucked around with this message at 04:05 on Sep 14, 2016 |

"Look at these plebs, thinking it is hard to under stand balance. If they were as smart as me they would just know the Truth is always in the middle! But they can't which is why I'm better than them".

Today we had the local state primary here in NH. I'm watching the returns now and it's real close between Chris Sununu and Frank Edelblut for the Republican nomination for governor. About 1000 vote difference. Sitting Republican Congressman Frank Guinta is up only by 400 votes. Kelly Ayotte crushed her primary challenger. 16% turn out for my town. 1 candidate for state rep missed a general election slot by 5 votes. Your vote does matter!
