Kid Cudi's relationship with Kanye is so weird. Cudi constantly distances himself from him only to come back later, and Kanye is always super positive and open about wanting to work with Cudi. I think Cudi is just frustrated that the only good things he's done have involved Kanye, and all the dumb self-production and rock band stuff is just him desperately trying to prove that he doesn't need Kanye to make good music

Ryu's first new album in a bunch of years is out today, Tanks for the Memories. If you liked Styles of Beyond, this is very much that sort of stuff and won't be surprising--in fact a few of the tracks mix in bits of SoB hooks (though all the lyricism is new) I like it, but like I said, how much you like it will depend on how you feel about SoB (and Ryu and Takbir)

I think the most likely scenario was something along the lines of Cudi just wasn't cutting it business wise and no one was gonna sit around and babysit him because tbh his musical output just hasn't been that great other than a feature here or there (I like pretty much everything he ends up doing with Kanye) or the rare time when his experimental songs didn't totally blow.

cudi will never be on the level of a ye or drake because they are gods at their craft (or maybe just demi- or quasi- gods depending on your opinion). cudi is a niche-at-best artist who had some crossover success early in his career but hasn't been able to sustain an interesting experimental career because he doesn't have the (dedication? technical skills? curative ability?) to release consistent projects.

I mean we obviously don't REALLY know what's happening but since Cudi has done literally multiple times by now (last one I remember he was pissed he was on Yeezus since it was an old vocal sample or something) IMO I think the dude basically had another personal meltdown for whatever reason. He's obviously still suffering from depression which sucks.
