I can't believe we're teaching Americans about derogatory slurs, much less a racist slur based on a racist slur.

EightBit posted:This is important for just about any vehicle on the road, including Jeeps and non-H1 hummers. The drivetrain isn't meant for immersion, water will get into everything. If you take a vehicle swimming, get the fluids checked immediately. Some humvees have a switch/valve for pressurizing the drivetrain for fording options, maybe the first 2-3 years of H1s. On mine the entire system is vented to the air filter can. Geared hub, diffs trans and Tcase and even fuel at one point. On the drivers manual for my 1998 they go over it , if there is extensive fording operations at or near the maximum limit, the recommendation is to perform a c service which is a fluid check/flush and an inspection of all the vent lines. Owners tend to gloss over that little detail when they hear the fording specs of the truck, and run off to play u-boat commander and sink it. Clogged vent lines can have hilarious issues pop up such as having fluids from one item being pressurized and being shot somewhere else. Or diesel being sent to your diff, etc I got a leak in my vent somewhere and I'm overdue for a geared hub rebuild since I got access to a shop and media blaster again. It's getting drawn in through a hole in the bottom of the exhaust pipe (put there to prevent filling the exhaust and motor with water if you leave your stacks uncovered during a storm) and spat out the stack, not going through the motor.

Graph piss jugs against working restrooms and I bet you'll find a causal effect. Oregon tore out two perfectly good rest areas at the behest of an Indian casino so now the only "rest stop" in that 70 mile chunk is past all their slot machines; given that, I fully endorse making the dot clean up piss jugs here.

I stepped on a broken nail that pierced the bottom of my running shoes just once while cleaning out my trailer and I said to myself "never loving again". That was 8 years ago. Luckily I just got new inserts for my boots since the other ones completely rotted away and it feels like the bottom of my feet finally have support again!

They don't close it when it rains. They just tell you to drive slowly, sometimes they tell you to chain up. Sometimes they throw down a little gravel and make it rollercoaster all over a farmer's field. What's really interesting is when it's covered in frost. Quoting myself from the OSHA thread quote:Yeah, the boardwalks are fun because a little bit of rain makes them fun, a little bit of frost makes them hell. We were running one off the 2000 road, the location was completely matted with 2 levels with a bit of a ram up to the top. right on the edge of the lower set of mats so you had to do a hard right hander on wet mats with speed; We were fine with it for 3 days with rain and a little bit of snow, on day 4, the first guy in was a newfie, and just couldn't manage. On his third attempt, he ended up getting his front drive axles right against the lip on the top set of mats and just sat there spinning until someone came up and told him to stop. That made the medic freak out and complain, so everybody had to chain up. Of course there was no reason whatsoever to chain up, especially on the side of a muddy narrow road, so we'd come onto the big wide rig matted lease to do it, and then she complained about us climbing under the trucks to chain up. Tire chains turn them into loving cake though, there's more traction on wood with chains than there is almost anywhere else, and it fills you will all sorts of confidence until you get out of the trucks and your boots hit that icy wood, and then your rear end hits that icy wood quite a bit faster. Most cases where matting is used it isn't even a matter of muddy clay, it's 4-5 feet of fluffy moss/dirt/dead plant matter. The clay when dry you can barely hammer a spike into it. The trails through the woods you can push a 2x4 down into it like soft butter.
