Thanks! It's always frustrating figuring out the one treasure left behind, glad we were able to pull it off without too too much frustration. And now that The Great Cave Offensive is over, it's time to move onto Revenge of Meta Knight! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1baXED61xfA

Maybe the thing in the logo is supposed to be Meta Knight's cape?

Someone suggested that in the comments too, it looks like it's a lot clearer in the Ultra edition that it is meant to be Meta Knight's mask and cape. Sorta confusing with both that and the Halberd sharing the exact same real estate on the screen, though. It's just... really oversaturated I guess, you know? I want to apologize for the lack of updates to this thread -- at midnight last night I finally got back from a bachelor party I've been frantically planning, while also working on some top-secret stuff at work with a "NOW NOW NOW" deadline, so I haven't been able to put as much focus into the channel as I like. But the bachelor party's over, and in a few days what I'm working on has to be done, so it should be clear shortly. In the meantime, here are the videos I failed to post here from the end of last week -- today's video is ready to upload, but we're briefly delaying it to make way for tonight's special 2500th Let's Play video, so keep an eye out tonight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8avqC4bX8A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbrUeshGX5Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nmFbkqbBLw

And now, after finally celebrating our 2500th Let's Play video, it's back to the grind. In hindsight, I'm pretty sure I've fallen for this over and over again as a kid, but why is Hotbeat full of places that seem like they should be holding secrets, but aren't? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK0bgGFr51o

I'm pretty sure the only power you've missed thus far is one in the door maze at the end of the cloud planet. Also all the best powers are in the last few planets, which is why I typically do it first to have maximum fun.

Yup, reasonably sure you're right -- we missed Wing. Worst part is, the doors at the end of Skyhigh form such a tight web of pathways that it's real easy to miss stuff in there. And honestly, as a kid I never realized you could even do them out of order (hell, for some reason I was convinced you had to beat the first two planets before you could even enter ? ? ? to get Copy). Should have tried doing them backwards!

And so, one of the (in our opinion, anyway) best games the Super Nintendo has to offer comes to a close. John's taking on a familiar pair of faces in the conclusion to Milky Way Wishes, and revisiting every boss in the game in The Arena. It was a hell of a time, and I can't wait to come back to this majesty in Kirby Super Star Ultra! ...also, we've transitioned from my Vegas bachelor party stories to John's "I went to a seedy gay bar" bachelor party stories. I got to see some sweet cars and eat the best steak of my life, I think I won on this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc-E33gzULQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns84wlG0Fis

Something I'm strongly considering as the series moves forward (especially when it comes time for the "Hard Mode Tour") is an examination of the powers throughout the franchise. I actually quite enjoy Ninja, but I admit that it's just technical enough that it needs more love than just Super Star. Somehow, KSS feels just a little too "small" to really get the most out of it. I've only played a teeny bit of Squeak Squad, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing its evolution! Alxprit posted:Man I'm not even sure what's coming up next. But as side games go, this one's pretty satisfying (I think, anyway). Of all the quirky sidegames we've played on our channel, this is one I enjoy perhaps the most. Sorry for the delay, btw. I was basically on-call for some big stuff at work, and sadly got called in and lost the whole night to it. Gonna record some live video tonight, should have the new series started in the next 24 hours!

I liked Squeak Squad for sure, but Super Star Ultra is where it's loving at. Meta Knightmare is such an amazing power trip. Mechanically it's way simpler than Kirby's gameplay, but it feels just different enough.

Will you play the Super Famicom version of this game when it rolls around in the chronology? It's got a Puyo Puyo-esque story mode, and I'm pretty sure I can track down a translation so you don't have to pretend you speak Japanese. e: found it! Yes, please. Good lord, let me be the first (or second?) to say that would be a marvelously hosed up compilation, I have no doubt. Intoxarina of Time. Themed drinks would be cool if you can come up with enough variety, for sure. There is so much poo poo you could drink to, maybe just use beer whenever you're drinking outside of dungeons? Triggers could include Pieces of Heart, catching a Poe's Soul, getting a major item, starting a dungeon, completing a dungeon, maxing out your current wallet, killing a Gold Skulltula, doing each part of the Biggoron trading sequence... please don't overindulge btw.

I was debating something like that actually, having a sort of "my drink" for wandering around, and a "themed drink" while in dungeons -- you can only drink from the specified drink at a given time for casual drinking, and certain events result in shots (example: encountering (or beating?) Gohma requires you to take a Spider Bite shot). Some events would trigger shots as well (biggest one I can think of is drink every time Kaepora Gaebora appears, ugh), though there's a lot of wiggle room there. Dresh posted:Intoxarina of Time. Forest Temple - serious answer: anything with melon liqueur. If you feel like revisiting your college days, jello shots. Comedy option: Absinthe Fire Temple - yea Water Temple - Blue Lagoon (anything with blue curacao really) Shadow Temple - Black Russian Spirit Temple - Something with Bailey's. Or Tequila.

Ooh, a melon liqueur for the Forest Temple could be cool. Absinthe might be more appropriate, to be honest. You keep going around badmouthing 4e and we will have words. They didn't "remove" checks, just turned "Taking 10 on perception" into "passive perception" and that's mostly only used so that the person making a stealth/bluff check has a target number to roll against as opposed to it being opposed, since 4e doesn't do Opposed checks very often, if at all. You still have to roll for everything else or for when you're actively searching for something.
