I was not aware Hillary Clinton was in favor of a complete repeal of the second amendment and guns being taken away from all soldiers, police officers, and secret service agents. That's a pretty crazy position! I wonder why people don't talk about it more?

I bet the Republicans are going to institute a similar system if Trump loses.

I understand why the system exists in theory but I can't think of anyone who people could choose in practice. If the GOP ever moderates itself we become much more vulnerable to things like billionaires running vanity candidates that we can't push out because of CU. As far as facist strongmen are concerned it's not terribly likely, not because Democrats are inherently noble, but because in the US all the anti-fascist, anti-nativist voters (aka minorities) are only welcome in a single party in which they wield disproportionate influence So if the GOP moderates AND there's a restructuring of minority support (not impossible but is probably a generational thing at this point thanks to Trump), then supers will possibly be needed to prevent a Democrat Hitler. Until then they're primarily useful in preventing a lunatic from riding the split votes of a wide and never narrowing field to take control as the face of the party, not that something like that would ever happen in modern politics
