http://techraptor.net/content/digital-homicides-games-removed-steam So this company called Digital Homicide has a bunch of shovelware games on Steam. They tried (and failed) to sue a guy for $10M who had the audacity to call their garbage games garbage. They then tried to sue 100 random Steam users for $18M, subpoenaing Valve for their identities. Valve then delisted their games for being hostile to Steam users. I wonder if Valve will actually stick to their guns and keep them delisted, unlike basically every other time they've delisted a game on their own initiative, one of which included a dev threatening to kill Gaben. Videogames breed a weird loving culture.

GrandpaPants posted:http://techraptor.net/content/digital-homicides-games-removed-steam They've actually upped the amount they're trying to sue Jim Sterling for to $15,000,000. Frankly it could go either way with Valve. While Valve is usually very happy to just roll over when they could potentially make money off a game, AFAIK this is the first time a dev has tried mass-suing their users (to the point of attempting to subpoena Valve) so they might have more of a stake in this.

To be fair, Valve only relisted it after the game was sold for a lump sump to another publisher (that death threat guy didn’t work at).

They're the kind of chucklefucks who would try the doxxing thing from time to time. Also 'a bunch of shovelware' really doesn't cover it with DH- they're basically the poster child for developers making GBS threads up the Greenlight service with dozens of half-made default Unity-asset-store games. The fact that they do this despite not having the temperament or PR skills to deal with even one of their games being criticised turns them from 'typical stupid Unity developer' to 'very special case of narcissistic self-destruction.'

The thing is, it's not that their brains fell out of their ears, it's that behind closed doors white people think it's super hilarious to pretend to be black. Like, it's a thing - the joke being one's clearly hilarious, overt whiteness. White dads make 'god it feels good to be a gangsta' jokes and giggle gleefully to themselves. These dumb girls were probably sincerely shocked by this backlash, because it seems so clearly in the vein of that line of joking in white culture. If you've only spent time around white people, this kinda thing can be a slap in the face. A well-deserved one, by the way. They need a bit of rear end-kicking coal-raking to thicken their skin and learn what's-what.

In the video interview the reporter specifically asks why they added that comment and their response was "not that this is a good thing but that word just kind of happens in our friend group... Also we're a big family so that word doesn't offend anyone in our group". Classy.

What does a military engagement in an active war zone have to do with domestic gun control though? I'm not saying the burn wasn't icy but this smacks of "As a single mother of 3, I know what it takes to balance a budget"

He's deflecting the criticism of his opponent, it's not that complicated. It shows that he wants background checks not because he's anti-gun or doesn't know what guns are all about, but because it's the sane thing to do. How is that confusing?
|
# ? Sep 18, 2016 14:18 |
It's not confusing it's just a lovely argument. "I served in the military" is not a trump card (this wicked line works on two levels just fyi)
