drat I just listened to three of their tracks and they shot right up into my favorites. I really like the complexity and variation in the music, and the rapping style is easy to understand the first time around. This is one of those groups that I will start at the beginning and work through all of their albums chronologically.

i enjoyed skelethon. or parts of skelethon. the impossible kid was the first album i've ever heard from aesop where he doesn't beat me round the head with a thesaurus making me feel like i can't appreciate his art if i've never read and fully comprehended finnegan's wake. it's a fascinating album, but not in his usual style, which really works for me.

Agree totally with this. Would also like to add that he is a really good producer and his songs sound great. He does it all himself iirc

i mostly listen to aesop for his production - i never really liked his flow or lyricism. i do appreciate he dumbed it down, cuz i agree it was a bit much, but i liked skelethon's production more. impossible kid gets kinda boom bap-y, which i dont think he really pulls off well. but at least hes changing his sound and not getting stuck

I agree with you. Aesop's sounds are spacey in the best kind of way, but I am not a big fan of his voice. I'd love an album on which he was a heavily involved producer

I'm pretty sure that was actually an evil twin trying to ruin his career/reputation. No way he made something that bad willingly. Although kudi put out speeding bullet 2 heaven willingly so idk maybe dudes hear something totally different in the studio.

He did an album this year with Blueprint where he handled all the production. That said, Blueprint's voice is maybe even more of an acquired taste than Aesop's so ymmv. It's kinda a concept album, it's pretty solid but not typically the kind of thing that people like around here.

I missed the day full of rappers at Riot Fest but Joey Bada$$ did play today and he actually brought it. I was worried he would be another festival cash-in lazy performer because he started 15 minutes late, but it was actually due to technical difficulties (he has live musicians as well as Statik Selektah DJing) and he made sure to make up for it.
