Speaking of Warhamster, there is a WM podcast available.

My feed didn't pick up the first 10 episodes, so I had to go to Podbean to get them. I've only listened to the first ten minutes of Ep 1, so I can't vouch for the quality. It's semi-weekly, and they've got 29 episodes out since December 2015. Not too shabby for a game that never got much traction.

I really want to try out Warband by Pendraken because having read the rules it seems like a really cool game. Unfortunately I think my friend deciding to go after Epic means I'll have to set aside a 10mm fantasy army for some time.

I haven't looked at Warband at all. I don't know if they use bases like WM, but there are resources for printable WM "stands" that will allow you to play and test out the game(s) without spending any money at all (other than ink and paper.)

Tell your friend that you'll play Epic if they will play Warband or Warmaster. It's a fair trade.

Warband uses 100x50mm bases. Like Kings of War, you can play it without any models. He's actually the guy that bought the Warband book! He wanted to do Warband but I twisted his arm into Kings of War because I had just scored some Mantic elves for cheap and he's since lost interest in it as he has dbmm for his epic infantry games.

Well, a bonus is that with the movement trays, you could still use Warmaster models, if you wanted them to do double duty.

I'll have to track down a copy of Warband and take a look at it.

It's a little high - $40 for two is probably the top of what I'd pay. And you'll want two anyway. Unless you really, really need it, hold out for an Ebay deal for two.

Yeah, I kicked myself the other day when I realised that back when I got into the hobby again all that stuff was still available, but I was so focussed on 40k that I didn't buy any of it. Which is why when I wanted some Necromunda stuff a few weeks ago I had to pay through the nose for an Orlock gang on Ebay. And there's basically no chance of me having a Gothic fleet unless they re-release it.

Which is a shame, because the Gothic PC game is reminding me how awesome those models were.

Judging by those photos, and the quantities available, you're looking at recasts. Again, legit Warhound sets are selling for about the same price, so it's up to you.

Alibaba has some BFG resin models available that are pretty great for great price; the store only opens up during the evening in the states for some reason (my theory is that it's only online when English Lawyers are asleep), so if you don't see any models available check back later in the day: https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=AS_20160722230731&SearchText=battlefleet+gothic

I've an Imperial Fleet I'll likely never use, PM me if you're interested and I'll dig it out and figure out what's in it. Similarly a housemate of mine has Eldar that haven't been used for around a decade, I could check if he's willing to sell them on.

That is what I suspected, going to pass on that one then. Moot point anyway, since another brace of warhounds I bid on offered me a second chance offer for closer to 15 bucks each and the pictures at least appear to be a legit forgeword models in a labeled bag, etc.

I am definitely going to have to use proxies for a lot of stuff, but the forgworld warhounds have such a great iconic look that I wanted to get legit ones. I am probably going to use Vanguard Minis Novan Elites for my infantry, since the old plastic epic infantry is not super good looking. I do wish I could find better proxies for some of the HH Legion stuff, mostly Sicarans and Fellblade/gladius'.

10mm Fantasy Chat: I just wrapped up a Ratkin army for mini Kings of War. Majority of my force was Kallistra reinforced by Magister Militum and a few small Pendraken specialty units. The Kallistra models were top notch, and a steal since you can get 6 'packs' for I think 30 UK moon dollars. They were the same size as the Pendraken "large" type Ratmen, but the Magister ones were significantly smaller though that worked perfect for me since I was using them as Tunnel Slaves.

Edit: Also a nice bonus was the Kallistra units came with 50x20 bases for every two strips of models.

As a side note Epic seems really cool, is it 10mm or 6mm scale?

6mm, but rumor is that the updated Epic/Adeptus Titanicus game coming out will be 10mm.

In my opinion, I don't see anything other than Titans coming out for the AT game for a very long time. I imagine the followup will either be other Xenos titans or SM infantry and vehicles to keep with the HH theme (more likely, as GW has to design only one set of molds, and HH is so hot right now.)

And speaking of Warmaster, my group is having a WM event this coming Saturday at the Time Machine/Portal at 71 Hilliard St, Manchester, CT. Looks like 8 guys this time around, so if you're interested, you're more than welcome to get in a demo, a full game, or watch (and some of the guys usually bring an extra army or two to loan.) I think I'll wind up missing it this time around, due to the wife being laid up after foot surgery. :(

I think its actually in 8mm, which is close enough to epic that you could just use the new titans as "true scaled" versions with the existing epic infantry and vehicles.

There is not even close to enough skulls or aquilas on the Hawk stuff for your average GW customer to take it at all seriously.

I think GW's Fabulous new 8mm scale will be heroic enough to be 10mm by everyone else's measure, but they will insist that it isn't anyway.

I kinda hope that GW pull off something surprising and actually improve on or at least match Epic. I will be sticking to Dropzone but Space Marine/Titan Legions was my first GW love and it would be nice if they didn't crap on it again.

I expect new Adeptus Titanicus to do poorly.

Everybody wants Epic 40k, but GW is producing "tiny Imperial Civil War" instead. And when it doesn't catch on, they'll decide nobody wanted Epic afterall.

Would you mind posting some pictures? One of my great regrets is not scooping up the Skaven Warmaster figures when they were still available. No problem.

The skirmishers in the middle are Magister Militum, everything else is Kallistra (except the Reaper 28mm werewolf for scale). Unfortunately I left my Pendraken weapon teams at my opponents house from the last time we played, but they were very similar in size to the Kallistra ones.

There are both rumblings (it was mentioned in their specialist games division announcement) and a large dose of cynicism. My guess is they will start on it once Blood bowl is out so it is probably a year or so off. I would also flip a coin to guess if it will be the old rules reprinted or something new.

Dropfleet is out at retail by Christmas and is probably going to cost a lot less.

November 25th is the most likely candidate. Supposedly there's a midnight release for something on the 25th. Blood Bowl is big enough for that, there's a tournament that weekend (the full beard cup I think) and it would make sense to be the big story for decembers white dwarf.
