The way CIG is doing it is they use one model and one animation set and that's third person. When you go first person the camera goes in front of your eyes which causes the current jumpy swaying everywhere that's in the current public build. What this tech does is make sure the camera isn't flying everywhere when running. As a comment said a few bits up, Creek tried to get this working in there games for years but ultimately failed. This will save everyone time in the future.

SC wants to create a new paradigm where you're controlling the hands of the avatar which moves things around. Seriously, this has been roadmapped since day one, so I don't know why you're confused. I mean, it's nice that they've added something to stabilize the viewpoint - a complete sop to the 'casual' - but it's obviously just downgrading the fidelity of the simulation.
