Cucumber honey bread sounds super weird, and now I want to make it. Whining: Soundcloud has started putting ads in more frequently, plus they're always about a thousand times louder than the ambient trance mix I was listening to. Stupid free service, stop being irritating.

DavidAlltheTime posted:Spotify ads for music nowhere near the genre I'm listening to. Aren't you all about curating my musical experience, Spotify? The only way the ads are effective is that I might (but definitely won't) pay just to get them to go away. I listen to chill, folky stuff usually, and the ads are all 'Mega pop hits explosion' bullshit. Spotify has never given me an ad that wasn't for alcohol, so try setting it to play 80s thrash metal overnight and see if that fixes it.

My current pet peeve is people who take some sort of perverse pride in talking about how much they dislike water / the taste of water / the chore of having to drink water. There's a podcast I listen to and the host constantly bemoans how much she loving hates water and how she can't live off diet coke like she used to because she's pregnant at the moment and it causes such a reaction from me because it's loving water. Like, it's the one most basic thing humans need to stay alive and it's completely inoffensive and not at all difficult to procure or consume. Being thirsty and slamming down a glass of cold water is one of the best feelings in the world (imho) and hearing people talking about how they would be happy if they never had to drink a glass of water again like it's some insurmountable chore just blows my loving mind. It makes me feel like they've missed out on some crucial part of human programming and if they didn't live in an age where soft drink is ubiquitous they'd probably be dead by now. Similarly, there was an article in today's newspaper about 'how to make water less boring and more delicious' and all I can think is it doesn't need to be less boring, it's loving water. All it needs to do is to be potable and not kill you when you drink it.

You're right, a jet cold glass of water when you're thirsty is literally the most amazing thing in the world. People who hate water are broken.

I once added Mio cherry blackberry flavor to bong water to see what it would taste like. Why? hosed if I know but it sounded like a fine experiment at the time. It actually made the bong water taste pretty okay and that creeped me out more than if it had tasted horrible. Can't drink any of those squirty water flavors. They all taste like sorta-okay kool-aide with a swish of bong juice.

The new thing I hate (there's a lot of them) is fandoms. Holy poo poo these are some sad creepy people. I knew these things existed but never paid much attention until I hung out with my wife's niece for a while. She was really into Minecraft for a while, then Five Nights at Freddy's, and is still hung up on Undertale. So she gets to telling me about these games and starts telling me some stuff about characters I never heard of and storylines that weren't in the games as far as I know. I asked her about them and the gist of her explanation is that a bunch of people made up extended stories and characters for these games and they are all accepted as the way things are. Yeah, cool that's creative of a bunch of kids to get imaginative with their games. Nah I get to looking at the videos she's watching and the tumblrs she goes to and it's all adults. Like from the top to the bottom, writing stories and drawing pictures from made-up parts of children's games. No porn stuff as far as I could tell but I'm really thinking about having a talk with her parents about what she is getting into.

I know of no other person who doesn't really like dogs who's nasty about it either. Anti-cat people have to tell you that they hate cats. HATE. Not just dislike, but hate. I always get the impression that they feed cats anti freeze, shoot cats, speed up to hit them with their cars etc. I've had instances where an anti-cat person interrupts what I'm saying to tell me how much they hate cats even when the cat in the story or conversation was only the most tangential detail. I don't even have cats. I just can't stand cruelty to animals, and you know what, I hate when people express hate for any living thing, like snakes. Okay, I get it, they give you the creeps, but can you not go on about how you wish they were exterminated? Converse pet peeve: When people say, "Awww! I want one!" whenever they see a beautiful/cute/funny wild animal. No you loving don't. This is why we have a problem with illegal importing of wild animals as pets. I can't wait for this dumb sloth fad to be over.

Even if say, a cat has done some incredibly minor harm in their life like a stray making GBS threads in some bushes on their property, or someone's cat who was unfamiliar with them swatted them because they were scared, it's never mild annoyance like "Gee, cats can be dicks sometimes," it's always vitriolic "gently caress CATS I loving HATE THEM AND WANT THEM ALL DEAD!" Obviously, not everyone who dislikes cats is like this, but there are more vocal anti-cat shitheads out there than you think.

You have no idea where that thing's going. People take them in, feed them so they never return home.... my one neighbor growing up trained her Rottweiler to kill cats. Part of pet ownership is keeping the thing safe. My little kitty ripped a screen and got out over the weekend, now we have no idea where he is or if he's alive unless we spot him. 5am is when a large portion of people get up for the day to get ready for work, it's kind of important to have an alarm working during that time. Off peak would be more like 2:30 am where the only people awake are shutin nerds who don't need their phone to be on.

If I wanted something that would only turn up when it wanted to be fed, I'd adopt a college student or something. E. I don't think it's a good idea to let your cat roam, especially if you live in any sort of city. Between cars, urban coyotes, and general assholes, the risk is too great. (I can't get too militant about this though, because accidents happen and the last thing anyone needs when they are already beside themselves with terror over their beloved pet's life is to be punished further.) And of course I believe in getting pets fixed. But it occurs to me that if someone's cat hadn't gone outside and come back home pregnant, leaving them with kittens to give away, I wouldn't presently have the most lovably chill kitten I have ever met living in my home right now.
