No you see the semantics are important. Discussing is not negotiating. Negotiating is apparently the thing you do once you've discussed and reached an agreement. There are no negotiations, only possible discussions. PS: ne·go·ti·ate nəˈɡōSHēˌāt/ verb verb: negotiate; 3rd person present: negotiates; past tense: negotiated; past participle: negotiated; gerund or present participle: negotiating 1. try to reach an agreement or compromise by discussion with others. This means that my kinda ex-gf has nowhere to stay when she gets there in a couple days, because between the entourage, journalists and so forth there's not a rental bed to be had in the whole town. Which might give me the opportunity to swoop in and save the day via connections I have up there. So the royals are annoying as is any attention paid to them (gently caress CBC is devoting a whole day to them apparently) but it might help me get laid again so I guess I won't complain too much.

The queen is old and nobody really wants Charles or William on their money, so it would be nice to get rid of the monarchy when she dies. Unfortunately there's no chance of Trudeau doing that as long as he has the opportunity to get free publicity and photo ops with THE ROYAL BABY.

Manitoba has a "balanced budget" law that the PCs passed years ago that required a refurendum for any tax increases and required MLAs to take a pay cut when running a deficit. The NDP managed to get around the law through some legal loopholes and raise the PST and it ended up being fairly disastrous for them among centerist and right leaning folks. I think a similar law requiring a referendum before selling a Crown Corporation would have the same effect if the NDP had the balls to write up something before being booted this past summer. Never underestimate the simplicity of the public.
