Dang, I wanted to start a new game yesterday and then got stuck looking for mods all evening, but I'm completely out of the loop since I haven't played in months. Are there any must-have mods if you are like me and enjoy base building. I especially look for mods which give more functions to settlers: like crafting, scavenging and generally doing more stuff around the settlement. Any advice would be welcome. In the F4 thread I was recommended NorthlandDiggers http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9710/ Are there other mods like that ? Can anyone recommend any good non-power armour mods? Almost all the ones I find are either one-step-from-porn or still require a body replacer.

I gave up on this game for a bit, the small gameplay adjustments are nice and more guns are cool. But there are no good quest expansions or new areas at all compared to say Skyrim. The modding for fo4 is pretty disappointing, the questing is probably due to the voiced protagonists.

Quest mods require a lot of time and effort. Far more then creating a new weapon model, and certainly more then simply tweaking some tweaking some stats on a weapon. And the community is still finding its feet and updating/creating tools. If I recall right, quest mods for Skyrim didn't happen until 2 years after the CK dropped. And then they were generally still rough beta versions. So have some patience or go make a quest mod yourself if you really think it's easy and something you can fart out in one afternoon.

On the quest mod front, there is Tales from the Commonwealth by the same team that made the Interesting NPCs mod for Skyrim. It's mostly just random NPCs but there's several (relatively short) quests and I think three companions.

There's really nothing huge that is changed, it just adds little things here and there. It shouldn't break anything. The voice acting is... well it is. It varies from decent to terrible, because, you know, mod voice acting. There's like three new companions, a handful of new quests, etc., and it mostly fits right in.

I'm having an issue where I assign an automatron bot as a supply line but when I fast-travel to the place I sent it, it has reverted to a default, armorless protectron chassis. Some investigation online shows that lots of people are encountering this bug infrequently, but for me it happens every time - guaranteed. Some of the information I've dug up says this is the "cell reset bug". Everything I've been able to dig up on that says it messes with power armor, but no one mentions robots. And that Bethesda may have fixed it a while back, maybe? Near as I can tell, this only started happening since Nuka-World released. I was using robot supply lines in my old games and they never reset on me before. A) Could a mod be causing this? Something that Nuka World broke? B) Does anyone know of a mod that would fix this?

I guess its the same old argument because Skyrim is simply much bigger with regards to vanilla content. Fallout 4 has a lot of detail in a relatively small space. Skyrim is sort of like this but it feels like it has more room to breath and explore. Whereas in Fallout 4 I go wandering and I'm out yet another settlement.

I ran into that on my last save, not sure what made it start happening but it only seemed to be caused by fast traveling from one end of the bot's supply line to the other. Going somewhere else and then going to the other end of their supply line seemed to be a way to avoid it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to actually fix it for good.

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18821/ A loving AN-94. Model seems nice, and it can even be skinned (including skins based off the hot rod magazines) in-game. I wonder if it has the two-round burst as standard... because then slapping a two-shot legendary mod on there would be fun (probably only three shots, given how the legendary effect works, but still).

With the release of Nuka World, and now this AN-94, I've really been missing the old weapon skills versus the weapon type perks we have now. Sometimes you just wanna magdump an AK without building your whole character around it!

Picked up the game for the first time since launch and finally cleared Automatron, was all excited to pimp out a bunch of robo-provisioners, but I lost the upgrades on my first one twice in quick succession, probably because I was fast-traveling back and forth between both ends of the route (Sanctuary and Starlight Drive-in) to move all my loot, power armor, etc. I was all excited to try the Securitron mod for them too. I'm also running into the bug where settlements forget that they have beds/food/water/defense thus tanking the happiness. That bug was annoying as poo poo at launch and I'd really hoped that it would have been fixed by Bethesda or the unofficial patch by now, but apparently not.

Gotta admit, I always have and will be a big fan of character specialization, so the new Perk system suits me just fine. Getting rid of skills felt like ditching a layer of needless numbers and that was fine. I am one of those people that has a different character for every type of thing I want to do. Doing everything on a single character is an anathema to me.

Though I still kinda miss having skills, this is the first time I've missed the old division of small guns/energy weapons etc, which surprises me.
