I will hate FC Dallas to a championship. If I dare to slip up and cheer for them, they will poo poo down their leg. For my sports to see success, I must infuse them with my hatred. It's worked well so far!

I love my team as an institution that has brought me a lot of joy over the years but I also hate my "team" as the collection of people who routinely fill the decaying corpse of RFK stadium with some truly awful play. In conclusion D.C. United is a team of contrasts

I do have to say that since Sam and Mullins came on board, the team has been less unwatchable. When they smell blood, they've learned to pour forward, and Boswell is savvy enough to hang back and too slow to get that forward without leaving the whole side exposed. DeLeon is an odd duck at right back, and it works far better than it logically should. I don't know. This is a team that can win one (1) playoff game as currently constructed, and will probably still die a noble death to any one of TFC/NJ/NYC. Which continues the problem, because it means Olsen will remain rooted to our coaching staff. Also, I'm coming around on Dave Kaspar as GM. The fact that he keeps managing to make these trades on a budget of a can full of magic beans is sort of astonishing. People keep selling us players that don't need coaching (which is good, because they won't get any) and turning our bad team into an okay team. We are a mid-stage end boss.

Mostly as you said. He makes for an excellent starter due to his crossing and attacking creativity. It took a few games for Acosta and Mullins to anticipate the stuff he tries - after a year of route-one style, nobody knew what to make of a sudden back heel - but he creates chances that weren't there before and it's inspired others to try it as well. His usual sub is Neagle, Nyarko or DeLeon before DeLeon switched to RB, which trades accuracy for pace. He's improved our team immensely. The Terp Connection between Mullins and Kemp, though, has been lovely. Kemp isn't the greatest free kick specialist, but he and Mullins have insane chemistry. MLS Cup playoffs were awesome last year. I think this year is gonna live up to that. Oh God if we draw Philly.

One of Seattle (41 points, 53 max) or Portland (41 points, 50 max) is all but assured of making the playoffs. They'd need to both be leapfrogged by one of these teams in order for that to not happen: Vancouver - 35 points. 44 max points. SEA, @SJ, POR. Absolutely need to beat both SEA and POR and get at least a point against SJ. Anything else eliminates them from the playoffs. San Jose - 34 points. 46 max points. RSL, @COL, VAN, KC. Game against VAN is super-crucial for both teams. VAN win gives SJ no margin, SJ win eliminates VAN. Draw basically requires SJ to win out. Can't really afford to lose either of the games leading up to that one. Houston - 32 points. 47 max points. NYC, COL, @SEA, LA, @COL. This is a rather un-kind schedule, to say the least. Eliminated with loss against SEA.

It at least looks like they'll be able to play a Seattle squad missing Lodeiro, since the Uruguayan national team has a game that night. It's shocking how much better he's made that team, and I'm pretty nervous about going to Vancouver this weekend without him.

Stadium news: the Buzzard Point site is being handed over this weekend, history being revised so that we ARE doing a Toronto and starting on a never ending road trip. Goff is still an FO shill who reports on practices he doesn't attend and makes up quotes.

My favorite thing from a puff piece about the stadiumSome Tool posted:"The view from Potomac Avenue will be directly into the Stadium and the field since no structure will be in this line of site and the field will be near ground level," according to the zoning application. "The ability to see onto the field from outside the Stadium will be one of its most unique and street-activating features virtually unknown in other professional sports stadia. "It's going to reminiscent of the field and bleachers at your local high scool stadium where you can see play from the street because we can't build a real stadium, but uhhh, its actually a cool and rad feature" I'm glad my bad team is getting a new stadium but I wasn't aware they planned to leave a side open like some bush league poo poo, I mean that's not the worst but it's so cringey that they try to spin it as a feature. I mean, Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh does this, but that's because the stadium faces the river so you just chill out at ground level unless you wanna sit in the bleachers and watch Boats

Naturally the FO will say "best points haul ever by a Rapids team" no matter what and we will get three more years of Mastronaccio. As nice as it is to see the Rapids in the playoffs I still believe it's more due to the talent on the field than the coach. The team has coasted since Tim Howard arrived with almost no sign of adjustment by anyone, particularly the coaching staff. A good coach would notice and adjust. Pablo hasn't.
