Both being under Rosenberg and being alternative rap with very busy tracks, I'd love to hear a Spark Master Tape x Danny Brown track.

XXX is a must. I think I might (?) be in the minority that liked Old all the way through but YMMV. Then work your way backwards from XXX. Hybrid/Detroit State of Mind 1-4/Hot Soup is mostly good but the modern Danny sound started with XXX.

Lost is actually one of my favorite beats, while I can hardly listen to Aint It Funny. Get Hi is one of my new favorite stoner anthems, and Really Doe is a treat since I had been listening to the terrible quality version with Rosenberg clips all over it.

liked xxx, but ended up skipping a shitload of tracks and there's only three or four i'll listen to by choice nowadays. loved old. 3rd listen, love whatever this is.

new Danny Brown is really great but a couple lackluster tracks short of being AOTY material for me. Probably would've cut all the tracks with features that weren't Really Doe

imo, really doe is the weakest track and it's still a good track.

This completely owns, yeah. On the second listen through I practically started headbanging after the 1:00 mark in Tell Me What I Don't Know.

who i think is saying the... mixing? is that the right word? is excellent which as a guy who doesn't give a single poo poo about that sort of stuff even i can tell all the levels are loving perfect and it's crisp as hell (though that doesn't automatically translate to good)

i think everyone's just enjoying an album that's extremely different and saying the things they like or don't like about it

I think by "busy" he's referring to how many releases have been coming out this summer that are widely-loved. There have been lots of AOTY calls repeatedly all year, but then there always are.

But then I think that's the sign of a fairly healthy rap scene--it does keep evolving, and some really cool and unexpected sounds have come out of it.

I did, but I've also had Coloring Book as my rap AOTY since it came out rather than claiming it for every major release.

TLOP, Jeffery, a bunch of things last year. But also its a running gag so it's hard to tell who's being serious and who's not.

To the sun's savage brightness he exposed the dark and secret surface of his retinas, so that by burning the memory of vengeance might be preserved, and never perish.
I didn't care for Old as I'm not huge on Paul White's production (nothing ever quite finds a groove and feels a little limp), and the second half is full of by the numbers bangers that feel forced. Could just be my ears.

I liked Attak, so Danny is definitely capable of working with Rustie to pull together a huge track. Maybe it's because Attak doesn't have that "Woo! Partying!" chorus structure that plagued the back half of Old.

XXX is still my favourite but please don't overlook The Hybrid

Halfway through my first listen of Atrocity Exhibition and it's good so far. Definitely gonna have to give it a few listens before I form a proper opinion.

Danny's "screech" can be grating at times but it's way better than that loving ridiculous pretend whiney voice Kendrick uses all the time.

i think his voice goes really well with the production this time around but mixing probably has something to do with that too. I know i would find his higher pitch grating a lot of times on earlier joints but this goes together pretty smooth

i am really liking this new album, blown away by it because i wasn't feeling Really Doe and was afraid more of the album would be that instead of what it is

loving: pneumonia, tell me what i don't know, rolling stone, ain't it funny, when it rain

i'm one of those rare dudes who loved the gently caress outta OLD more than the past work but if I don't cool on this one then I think it is probs gonna overtake OLD for my DB album of choice

it all just sounds so clear and cramped

Danny used to switch his flows up a lot "back in the day" but around the time Old came out he just started doing his yapping dog Bababababa-dadaba. Bab-ba-ba-ba-dababa thing in every song that could be remotely considered upbeat. Is he still doing that for the entire album or is he changing things around again

e; I still love the hybrid the most and Danny's best verse of the last couple years was on an ICP song so sorry for my pessimism
