Not much, your stomach is used to a bit of acidity. Might get a bit of heartburn if you're not used to it. Reminds me of miracle berries though. That's some kind of berry (concentrate is available in tablet form) that does something weird with your tastebuds making everything that's sour taste sweet for the next hour or so. I ate a lemon like it was an orange while in that state, and enjoyed it. I could feel the acid's prickly feeling in my mouth and I felt like my teeth were rotting away instantly but other than that it was nice and sweet.

The engine and the coolant heat up together, regardless of the material of the block. The coolant runs through it, after all. One can't be significantly hotter than the other. Turning on the heater "works" for every vehicle in the sense that yes, it takes some of the heat from the engine and dumps it into the car's interior. There is really no difference between the radiator and the heater core, one is just bigger. Whether it's enough to prevent the car from overheating depends again on why it's overheating (won't save you if your problem is no coolant), engine design (bigger engines produce more total heat but will still have the same size heater core), and outside temperature (cold air through the heater will absorb more heat). But for any given car, if the conditions are such that it is just barely overheating, then turning on the heater full blast will prevent that, or at least slow it down. I had a cylinder misfire on my Fit and the dealer told me it would cost $100 to diagnose. I showed them the dongle and told them there was no way in hell I was paying for them to plug a computer into my car, but I would buy the required coil pack from them if they installed it for free (it's literally one plug and one bolt). They did.

quote:The engine and the coolant heat up together, regardless of the material of the block. The coolant runs through it, after all. One can't be significantly hotter than the other. This is badly, deeply wrong. The coolant is only going to be able to transfer a certain amount of heat out of the engine block depending on air flow/thermal properties of engine block (which is why iron vs aluminum matters) and coolant, and a few other things. It is 100% possible for your engine to be producing more heat than the radiator can transfer out, which is why overheating is a thing. Water is not some magical fluid that can completely remove 100% of heat generated. That's why cars have temp gauges. As for people wanting better temperature indications, keep in mind that a)it would add cost b)most people don't bother paying attention to warning lights/indications c)most people wouldn't know how to interpret it anyway. My current car's oil pressure gauge shows actual oil pressure (which varies with engine rpm) instead of just sitting in one spot to say "you have oil pressure" and I've had a friend freak out when they see the pressure lower while idling. Most people are too ignorant to be able to accurately interpret the small amount of data given, any more and you're just begging for problems.

It's obviously slanted toward the wealthy, just like all tax rules, but it's important for people that realize big losses to be able to carry it over to the next tax year to keep them confident in investing in the market. Lots of cars do have more information than just coolant temp. My car will give you a readout of cylinder head temp and inlet air temp, it's just buried in display menus and not a gage on the instrument panel.
